New Opryland Pics Operation and Demolition

To Whom This May Concern:
Here are some answers to your questions:

"Didn't Roy Acuff have a house on the property where he lived in his latter years? Just a wild guess but maybe that's a pic of his house."

Answer:
Yes he did. The house is still around and it is right beside the Grand Ole Opry house. The house has been renamed to the Acuff House and is used for upper management of the Grand Ole Opry.

The "House" in question in earlier posts is unknown to me, but I will easily find out and re-post so you all know the exact reason the house is there.

My opinions are not of Gaylord Entertainment. However, the reason that GE closed Opryland USA was due to continually decreasing profits raised from the park. My boss was in charge of security in the park before it closed and we have had a lengthy discussion about this. I feel that GE was wrong in their decision to close the park. Even though there are absolutely NO plans whatsoever to rebuild the park. I feel that in the future someone should tear down that piece of junk mall and rebuild the park.

Sincerely,

An Employee of Gaylord Entertainment

I wouldn't imagine that's gonna happen anytime soon. I work for a major metal building company in the South and we just designed and fabricated a HUGE building for the Oprymills Mall. According to the plans, it's supposed to be built in or around the parking area somewhere. Possibly on a hillside somwhere. The finished floor elevations varied greatly all over the building.

Happiness is like peeing your pants. Everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth. Trip pics are here: http://www.pbase.com/jhbd99.
I know im renewing an old topic, but anyways.....some conatcts of mine have learned that it was old man Gaylord, not his kids, who closed Opryland, apparently his kids were against the move. Now as of a few months ago, Gaylord Entertainment has bought a substantial land tract on Music Valley just down the road from the Opry...I mean Gaylord Opryland Hotel.

Pardon our dust...Signature is building for your future enjoyment!

Here's an article from 4/9/04 about the kids selling most of their stake in the company.
Orpyland looked to me as a really nice park. I am a yearly visiter to busch gardens Williamsburg wich is the nicest and cleanest park around. My grandparents went in 1994, when i first talked to my grandpa about the park he told me it was almost as clean and friendly as Busch gardens. Too bad i never got to go there.
