New Kennywood construction pictures document progress of Phantom's Revenge

Sunday, February 25, 2001. Winter in Pittsburgh at 60+ degrees, sunny and windy. A beautiful day to take some new pictures. There has been a lot of work done since my visit last month (in the snow, of course), and it is beginning to look a lot like a ride.

Greetings! Am I the only one who is concerned that progress is moving rather slowly here? I mean, Preview Day is only a little over a month away now. It just seems like they should have progress more than this.... I love the pics though--thanks Steve!

I agree. It doesn't look like they have installed anything. I know there is a lot of prep work but compared to the other coasters going up this winter, it doesn't look like have done anything.

Is it official that they are not going to have the double up?

Also, I noticed something while looking at these pictures - it is amazing that the trains make it up the second hill - it is almost the same height as the lft hill. weird

I heard this week they are going to start verticle construction. And i guess they aren't that far behind. Xflight just has the lift hill done.

Remember the Steel Phantom will always be with you.
Right, but X-Flight is being built in a parking lot, AND opens 3 weeks later.

I doubt if P.R. is done for preview day.
I am sure it has to be a little bit more tricky to install all of that track on a hill. They could have already installed some of the other track?

Coasters- a little slice of heaven
It better be open for my school picnic. I will like to see this ride be better than SP. But that isn't a valued argument since I haven't rode it yet.
Yes, it's official. The double-up is out.

I'm sure if vertical construction doesn't start this week, someone at CoasterBash will ask when it's planned.
