New Elitch Gardens Ride 2002

Since this isn't an actual news item I figured I start it here. I was browsing around the Six Flags web site and went to the Six Flags Elitch Gardens page and under the news sections it said -
"Check back soon when we announce the exciting NEW RIDE in 2002!"

Be that as it may, this is heavenly news for all new ride stricken Denver patrons. I plan on checking the page more often for the announcement.

Check it out at: http://www.sixflags.com/parks/elitchgardens/home.asp

That's been out for a while now.Rumor has it that SFEG is getting a zamperla flyer for 02.
It isnt really news until they disclose the nature of the new ride. Yes, it has been mentioned here already that they are certainly getting a new ride in 2002 (deservingly), but what it will be is still unknown.

My other car is a Giovanola!
Yeah, there is a very strong rumor of the Volare flyer, and I hope we get it. I also heard that the spider was history in another thread about this topic, that makes me sad but oh well.
Sorry for sounding like an idiot, but I'm pretty out of the loop on these things. What exactly is a Zamperla or a Volare flyer?

Zamperla is an (Italian?) ride manufacturer.

The ride is called Volare and Zamperla is the manufacturer.

does this ride remind anyone else of PKI's Runaway Reptar?  Looks like Zamperla has the same idea for a "kiddie" inverted to me...but I really liked the ride, so I'm happy to see other manufacturers try their hand ...and this DOES look more like a "mid-size" that the much-smaller RR.

Rollergator:  FYI, Volare is a flying coaster, not an inverted.

Mamoosh, does this mean riding in the "prone" position a la the Vekomas, 'cause the compact layout really seems to suggest a different riding position.  Also, the Zamperla site refers to the trains as "gondolas"...I certainly wouldn't refer to the current flyers' trains that way...just wondering...looks like fun in any case!

I stand corrected...Zamperla calls it a "flying coaster" but in fact that cars are inverted, as MikeMir87 mentioned.  Sorry!
Mamoosh or anyone else, have you seen the cars?  Is there any sites w/ pictures?

V2 Fiend:  The Zamperla website has pics of the prototype but no pics of the cars.  Sorry.
The Zamperla Volare is indeed a flying coaster, and passengers will ride in the lay-down position.  The latest issue of First Drop has all of the details.

The coaster in RCT that MikeMir87 is referring to is a single-rail suspended coaster, much like the one at PKI (Scooby's Ghoster Coaster).  These are typically built by Caripro.

ColumbusCoaster, thanks for the link.  Definitely NOT your "typical" flying coaster, the restraints look somewhat more....confining.  I love seeing all these companies putting out new rides - competition ALWAYS benefits the consumer....US!   Also, especially happy to hear that Zamperla is interested in hearing how their ride could be improved...that's the customer-driven mentality, and will serve Zamperla well...

Darn it...that's what I get for second guessing myself...I stand corrected again!  LOL!
Wow! That looks amazing...a flying wild mouse of sorts...hmm...

Anyway, the restraints look very unique...almost to the point of claustrophobic...it's actually quite humorous seeing the passengers in the standing position moving through the station, at least according to the pictures...it would be awesome if these became commonplace in the US.

If you got the First Drop issue, you may have read that Justin has already been on it. He had no real complaints, except for wishing for a larger drop.

The ride actually features two barrel rolls, so it isn't just for "kids."
