New CP posters are in

Got a bunch of 'em at work today. I'm kinda disappointed that it's not a photograph like the last two have been, but it's cool nonetheless, and free so I'm not complaining.

It has a drawing of a TTD train pointing straight up, and all the people in the train are wearing race helmets and outfits. It also has digital numbers listing the top speeds and heights of CP's coasters that have broken those records.

Thanks, CP. Now there are four layers of posters in my cubicle. ;)

How did you get a poster?

It's not as bad as the Millennium Force calendar poster from 2000. That one was seriously not attractive. This one is much better. I don't doubt we'll get a photograph for next year's.

I received mine yesterday. Very very nice.

Did CP's Planning and Design dept. work on these? That was the job I interviewed for :(
How do you get these posters? I want one.

If you don't like the ride shut up and get out of line.

a) work in the media; b) be pals with someone at CP.

c) have patience till the park opens and check out some locations, like the season pass center, where you might be able to find some.

Otherwise, you just gots ta know someone (Or be someone, lol).

I e-mailed CP and asked them if they had any posters last year and they sent me two MF calendars(2001 and 2002) and a bunch of flyers and other pretty cool stuff. I told them in my e-mail that I was willing to pay for the stuff and for shipping and handling but they just sent them to me for free. So I might e-mail them again and see if I can get one of these posters. If not then oh well, it was worth a shot.

Yeah I just emailed them too. Its really easy to do and they send you all this stuff.

It's no use emailing them for a while, the people that send the stuff out don't come back until Spring. Last winter, I emailed them around this time, and they sent me some stuff in late April or early May.

I remembered I used the Question & Comments section of the website to inquire about the posters. I went there earlier today to e-mail them about the TTD posters but there was a message saying that particular section would be back up at the beginning of the 2003 season. So I guess I'll just wait until then to e-mail them about it.

I think the poster is very nice, it looks impressive on my computer room wall. You will find out that beeing friends with CP is a very very good thing. That park has so much class, and they try very hard not to disapoint. The poster is good, and the press kit was very nice and unexpected. I will be sending them another letter very soon. Thank you CP!

Who exactly did you e-mail about getting that stuff? I went to Cedar Point's website and couldn't find anyone to e-mail about getting a poster and/or calandar. Thanks.
What exactly do you do to become a "friend" of CP?

Dan - do something for them. i.e. give them some press. Or be a well-known enthusiast who praises the park on TV and in print often.

Incidentally, just got a fax for PKI's media day. April 10. w00t!!11

Say, Den, you wouldn't need a ride down to PKI, would you?

I wish I could be as k3wl as Den.

I'm not even sure if I'll go to PKI's or not. CP, that's a definite.

btw, did I ever tell you all about that time my wife and I went to the media day for Son of Beast? The event was cancelled but apparently we were the only people who didn't hear about it. So we're wandering aimlessly around an empty park for 20 minutes until a security guard catches us.

He takes us in to talk to Jeff Seibert - and then David Mandt gives us a *personal,* hour-long, behind-the-scenes tour of SoB. We walked under it and around to the big helix, etc. Too cool.

Then we talked with Jeff for another hour in his office about coasters and newspapers. Those guys are the pinnacle of class.
