The New Kennywood Coaster will only be 5 feet taller than the Steel Phantom. Loops will be gone and the designer is DH Morgan.

Ok, so basically its still the same ride with new added parts...Its almost like a Franknstein or something.......
Wow did kwood fool us.
Its funny that 5 feet of drop add 85 mph, seeing as SP regularly reaches and surpasses 85.

Is this really supposed to make MF look like a baby? False advertising, I say!

I would like 2 Steel Dragons and a king size MF to go, please.

Oh and can I get a Tonnerre de Ze
Boy is this a let down. I hate to see that they're really not making anything spectacular. Does that article have to be real?

I dont want to believe this, but I'd much rather have SP then a loopless recreation.

KENNYWOOD never said anything about making Millennium Force look like a baby.

We don't know all the details about the new coaster yet. Just that it's Morgan, nonlooping (no surprise once you see it's Morgan), and that ONE of the drops will be 230 feet. As for the rest, who knows.

Besides, bigger isn't necessarily better. I personally like Superman:Ride of Steel better than Millennium Force. MF is a great ride, but Superman is an airtime machine, and I find that more fun... For all we know Phantom's Revenge may be designed to be the biggest airtime beast we've ever seen.

Yes but knowing Kennywood, they arent going to make it much more then several hills. S:ROS is better than any machine made, and you cant acheive that with 3000 feet of track!

Yes I know im overreacting, but this is an important part of pittsburgh.

If this article is accurate, that was abig letdown, IMO. It will be big, smooth, and no headbanging, but "only" 230? I was hoping for at least 280-310.
Boooooo, Kennywood, Boooooo!!!

Gotta ride 'em all!
I'm not let down. Even if this IS the largest drop, that doesn't make this a bad coaster.

Kennywood learned with the Steel Phantom that putting in a coaster for bragging rights ("world's fastest") doesn't last long. They don't have the SPACE to keep up with other parks in an arms race. So rather than go for something massive that'll just get beaten again, they should use the space they have effectively for a ride that'll be FUN, and hopefully REMAIN fun as the years go by...

I'll probably end up going.

DOWN WITH TRIM BRAKES!
Finally PA will have 2 Morgans! Steel Force and Phantom's Revenge. Hey! Isn't ironic that the 2 logo are caped ghosts?

Admittedly, I'm an idiot, dyslexic, and mostly illiterate, but where on the above posted website does it say any thing about MORGAN. I didnt see it. Maybe my glasses are dirty but nowhere does it mention a designer...help me out...
Hey 2Hostyl
I always suspected something about you - LOL!
I don't see where it says it is a Morgan either. Where is this info coming from? I think alot of people were think giga so this is a disappointment. However, I think it will still be a great ride. I would like to see its layout and the specifics of the entire ride.
Morgan has not been confirmed, only rumored from the Lemon Chill guy at Cedar Point. Kennywood wouldn't confirm the manufacturer with me when I phoned them this afternoon.

The Making Millennium force and Steel Dragon look like a kidde ride came from our friends on teh inside at Kennywood non other than KPU!
And at this point after all the way-off-base information that was on KPU, you still believe they really have an inside track?

The new coaster will use lap bars, based on the information on WTAE's site. (www.wtaetv.com)

That SHOULD be a given with a nonlooping coaster. If there were, Kennywood would just be putting up an expensive torturing device if you know what I mean....

You can still use only lap bars if you just have a vertical loop, take SOB for example.

Why do most people think the coaster will be bad by only having a drop of 230 feet? Look at Superman Ride Of Steel at SFNE, it only has a drop of 225 feet but I have heard it's better than Millennium Force. I expect that this coaster will no doublty blow Millennium Force, or any steel coaster for that matter, AWAY!
I personally think a dive down the ravine with only the lapbars will be amazing. Kennywood is doing what they should have done with Phantom in the first place. *** This post was edited by GRL on 8/11/2000. ***
