New coaster for Six Flags Great Adventure on public agenda

Posted | Contributed by Viper423

Jackson Township, NJ, will consider administrative approval of a new ride at Six Flags Great Adventure at tonight's planning board meeting.

See the planning board meeting agenda from the Jackson Township site.

I want the big Intamin woodie!!
How would someone from SFMW know about the attendance at SFWoA?

I was at the meeting. The only specifics given were height and location. 122 feet tall, located in the current season pass parking lot. Official approval did not happen tonight based on some minor things the board would like to see. They will try again on the 24th. As far as type goes, I was able to glance at the plan on the way out. It is not a woodie based on the footprint. This would lead me to believe it's a flyer. A pretzel loop was evident in the layout of the ride.

Yeah, I think if you've been paying attention the last few months, its pretty clear whats coming to Great Adventure in '02...

Im curious though, you say you could make out a pretzel loop in the layout... Could you tell if the rest of the layout was a clone of S:UF or not?

And if I may say, after riding S:UF (and AIR) I think that if there ever was a ride to clone, this is it. It's got everything I could want in coaster... Positive G's, Insane negative G's, amazing flying time, a smooth ride, and a compact layout. It just fits the profile. :)

A flyer for SFGRADV= a floorless for SFA eventually.

I'm hoping to see a nice B&M at SFA in 03,butr back on topic we can now put the debate over what SFGRADV is getting to rest and enjoy the offseason construction.

I am not familiar enough with the layout of S:UF and couple that with the fact that I only had the chance to steal a quick look means that we'll have to wait and see on the rest. The only reason I could see the plan at all was because the engineer carried it out plan side out as I was walking out alongside him. Oops.

Good snooping there, that's pretty much what most of us are banking on that park getting: a B&M flyer.

As far as whoever made this comment:

"that some of them might try and get more info than is given, by asking any reps that are there and such, and pestering them doesn't help anything. "

Sure it would, it would help satisfy a lot of curiosity. These people should be flattered that there are fans who are so obsessed and curious about their line of work. Don't blow off your most vocal supporters in whatever line of work you do, it certainly beats nobody caring at all. *** This post was edited by Fierce Pancake on 9/11/2002. ***

Someone help me here, but isn't New Jersey where Mr. Markey won his crusade for height restrictions?

Terry Deloria,

It was G force restrictions not height restrictions. BTW the law has no effect on any current ride in the state. I also doubt that it will effect this new ride either.

Batwing Fan, will you just let it go? This is a SFGadv topic, so stop insisting that SFA's getting a flyer or 4d or floorless or whatever else you can dream up.

87 different coasters for this year and counting... 149 total!

Wow, four B&M's in one park
best park hands down
Regardless of whether or not Six Flags Great America receives a B&M coaster this year, Six Flags Great Adventure will most likely be the first park to have four B&M coasters in one park. They've been lenghthening their season over the last couple of years and I'm sure they'll be opening far earlier than any other potential threat to receive a fourth Beemer before them. Good news. :-)

When I called the park they transferred me to operations, and I asked when they were going to announce the new B&M flyer, the guy was just like, "Um, maybe never"! Of course that doesn't confirm anything, but maybe all of the inquiring will encourage SF to make the official announcement sooner.
Or maybe all this inquiring and calling up the park is just annoying them. His answer is probably that of disgust because a lot of people are obviously calling from all the posts I have been reading. The announcement will be made in due time, and then everyone will know what it is.

Actually, his answer "Never" was correct. The operations department doesn't make announcements for the park, PR and Media Relations does.

Viper is right: its not a good idea to make phone calls to the park like that, JDB. If anything all that inquiring will begin to damage the relationship between the park and enthusiasts. And if you MUST call, DO NOT in any way associate yourself with any club [ACE, Coasterbuzz, Coaster Zombies, etc] as they work hard to maintain their relationships and a bunch of members calling to inquire about new attractions could be harmful.

Why can't people just be patient? Its obvious they want to build a new coaster. The announcement will come soon enough. Trust me...SFGAdv is well aware that we're interested in a coaster.

In the meantime, parks are still open for a few more weeks...go out and enjoy before its too late!
