New coaster for Blackpool?

Just read an article saying blackpool is getting a new coaster but its going to have some of the old coaster Traumatizer in it.

Odd…. RCDB has it listed as just a relocation. This article makes it seems as though it’s some sort of Phantoms Revenge esque deal being 200 feet tall and costing £8 million (the article says the original SLC cost £5 million- a used SLC cannot appreciate in value that much ;).

If it's just bad facts in the article or actually a 200 foot custom SLC, either way both sound painful.

I was also under the impression this was just a relocation as well.
Weird, but interesting.
In this article there is an illustration that has it looking like a plain old SLC with a few tunnels added. They mention a length of 2,200 feet, which is the length (give or take 60') of a standard SLC.

What they probably mean is the coaster cost them £5m to install at southport, and they're spending £3m on repaint, relocate and the heavy water theming that's supposed to come with it

It's TRAUMAtizer with a fountain. That's about it.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

I think it looks cool with the tunnels and all, would be fun. The water underneath will look nice too with the trees.

I need to get to BPPB before they make too many more of this type of "improvement"... ;)

Looks similar to CF closing GL and sending HeadSpin to CP....Vekoma booby-prizes!

That's bang on. Why build new when you can recycle?

Admittedly, it's not normally BPPB's trick to drop in a relocated ride, but it fills a big hole... they've not had a proper e-ticket since valhalla, and that was plagued by problems.....

It's enough to make me visit again in 07 - back in July when i was last there i made the decision to not visit for a few years, but what the hell - may as well use the 'new' coaster as an excuse to have a week away from home!

It's a really pretty color, though. Haven't seen too many coasters that color, except perhaps Kumba, and maybe Scream. Plus it looks like it interacts with the train and the water. :)

It looks like someone mixed a Vekoma (sp?) standard SLC and Hershey's Roller Soaker mixed to make this thing!!!

And throw in some steriods to the mix!!!

About the colour:

The track has arrived, it's not as I thought:

What color did you think it was? Those look the same as on the concept art which I like better IMO. I also love the new logo. Im guessing you were thinking they would keep it Traumatizer's colors. *** Edited 11/26/2006 3:12:33 AM UTC by P18***

The color is a bit darker shade of blue than in the concept art where it looks a tad more teal. At least to me. :)

I thought it'd be the same colour as the concept art - take another look. The concept art is sky blue - that track clearly isn't.
