"new coaster affect"

I was wondering in the eyes of the GP at SFGAm if deja vu opens this season at all will we have a duel new coaster affect. By this i mean a new ride becomes popular and has a longer wait which makes every other ride in the park a virtual walk on (in theory). Because S:UF is new but the GP will think so is deja vu. What do you guys think?

No. When S:UF opened at GAdv., there was no "new coaster effect (or affect :-P)." Nitro, Medusa, and all kinds of other rides were still commanding large lines. Same for B:DK.

And I do love Deja Vu, but with bad capacity and a pretty bad reliability, I wouldn't be surprised to see lots of people passing on it this season.

Last year at SFoG, we sort of had what you are talking about. SUF was commanding very long lines, as was Batman, Acrophobia, etc. News of DV's downtime spread through the park, and very little were interested when the ride began functioning later that day. Granted it was a Wednesday, lines for DV were less than 30 minutes. To get back to your question, I don't necessarily believe that the GP will think that it is a new ride; they'll probably be thinking like us: it was a ride built back in '01 that has been having operational problems, and works seldomly.

Actually, the topic was correct when it said 'new coaster effect.'

Me speak english bad? That un-possible. Well the thing is at SFGAm that the GP talk is useually all about Deja Vu. It is always something like I canot wait till it opens or some fake story about watching it derai. my prediction is that when it does open more people will flock to it than any other ride in the park. SFGAm might as well advertise "new for 2003 Deja Vu"

If life is 8 hours at SFGAm then 5 hours of Marching band and the posting on coasterbuzz at 3:30 in the morning then boy i got a life!

It's actually "Me fail English? That's unpossible" from the Simpsons.

Well when i went to CP in may TTD was actually running and there were no lines at all for any other rides even MF.it was a friday..but still crowds come in on friday.....is this what your talking about...The new coaster effect!..
When Superman opened at great adventure, some of the coasters, besides Nitro, had a wait of bout 10 min. and Superman was about an 1hr. in a half. I guess it's because it was the beginning of the season.

I want walk ons all day every day why wouldnt you.It makes sence when I get to the park early and wait in the lines to get trough the gates i hear more people complain that DEJA VU isnt open than people who are excited to ride ride Superman its werid lol.

Yes, it should be 'effect.' Not that it really matters though.

Anyways, theme parks are unpredictable. You can't say that there is a set 'New Coaster Effect" because there is really no way of knowing if there will be or not. You just can't predict or theorize about those kind of things.
