New claim for world's tallest Ferris Wheel

A new wheel, 35m (115ft) taller than the London Eye (135m/443ft) is planned for Singapore's waterfront as early as November 2005.

The Singapore Flyer at 170m/558ft is expected to boost tourism by $53 million & attract more than 1 million new visitors in the first year.

Parts of Malaysia & Indonesia will be visible from the air-conditioned glass capsules.

Is the Eye the current champ? How tall is the proposed Vegas wheel & is that still on track or what?

According to the latest information, they are still looking for a place to put the 560ft tall Ferris Wheel. Originally it was to be towards the south end of the strip, then it was to go where Wet'n'Wild is, but they just signed a 10 year lease extention...so who knows?

Perhaps they could mount it on a Monorail chasis and put it wherever they feel like it that day. ;)

And how does being higher make it any less boring?

Now the World's Tallest Zipper, that'd be something worth going to Singapore for! ;)

Den, the Eye isn't a thrill ride, sure, but it is amazingly cool.

I dunno. I love being up high just to look around, but I'd rather it be in a tower or building so I don't have to keep changing my focus.

Plus Ferris wheels (at least the smaller ones) make me kind of sick. The ones at Hersheypark and the Navy Pier did anyway. Funny that Zippers don't make me sick but tame Ferris wheels do.

558ft? wow. That would be pretty cool.

You can only do some much with a ferris wheel, but I till don't see the point in building another one.
