New ACE member

I finally got my membership to ACE in the mail today. I loved coasters for about 15 years and just joined this year! I even knew about ACE for close to 15 years as well.

I can't wait for the 2000 season to start!!

I broke down and joined the European Coaster Club this year, in part because you get the First Drop magazine. The club is smaller (especially for US members) and the publications seem to be more on time.

I remember meeting some members of ACE for the first time when I was about 13 years old (15 years ago) at MGAm. 2 of the guys I rode with were really great and since the park was empty that day we rode alot of the coasters endless amounts of times without getting off. They pretty much had the same designs on there jackets back then as they are now. The one thing that sticks out in my mind is they treated me like I was one of them even though I just met them. When you are 13 and you are hanging with people in there 20s and 30s it makes you feel really good. (TOP OF WORLD!!!!!!) Even though I liked riding coasters before that, on that day I grew a passionate love for coasters.
I must say that I have been somewhat disappointed with my membership with ACE. I joined this past winter, and it took about 3 months to receive my membership packet in the mail, and still have not received any of their newsletters or the magazine.

I took Jeff's advice a few months ago and joined ECC, and much to my surprise, received my info packet within 2 weeks!!!

I agree Seven-of-9.

I joined in late December and it took a long time to get my membership card and have yet to receive any other publications.

Unless their publications are really good, I think I could do better spending the $50 elsewhere.

If I need a coaster membership card The Great Ohio Coaster Club costs only $20.00 per year.

I met quite a few member from GOCC the last few weeks in touring SFO and CP. It's still a small enough organization that everyone seems to know each other.

As for ECC, I hope some of the Brits make plans to come visit Ohio this summer!

I just joined ACE and i got mymembership package in about a week and a half. As long as i get my published material i will feel like i got my moneies worth (as long as what Jim B. says is true about them being really good). But it has to be better than Inside Track running away with my money.

Other than that i don't expect to be able to travel to far to goto many events. Perhaps i'll take the advise next year and stick to a group closer to home.
A BIG congratulations to Coasterpunk. I just became a member, for the first time, a month ago around March 2. I do have plans to go to some of the conventions. Right now I don't know anyone personally who is a member. So I need to see what these conventions are like first.

Let the Coaster Season 2000 begin!!
