Nemesis Inferno construction well under way

Posted | Contributed by Taipan

Thorpe Park's new B&M inverter, Nemesis Inferno, is starting to take shape. One apparent highlight of the ride already is a quick change in direction through a very narrow tunnel, just outside of the station.

Show me the photos!

You know what tunnel also looks like a VERY narrow opening, Superman Ultimate Flight. I have never been on it, but just by looking at some pics, it looks very narrow.
That looks awesome.
Actually it's the drop out of the station. Awesome doesn't even describe it!
Wow, That looks like a GREAT feet Chopper.

Woohoo! I cain't wait! This park is just an hours drive from here! :)

My way, my way or the highway.

So.. in otherwords I'm the only one not impressed by the layout? A turning dive into a vertical loop into a zero g roll into double interlocking corckscrews into a twisted ending.

Standard B&M fare. Do their designers have any imagination what so ever?

That tunnel looks cool and I'm sure the ride will be fun. But from an enthusiasts point of view the B&M "formula coaster" is getting old. Sorry, just my opinion. *** This post was edited by Phyter on 8/22/2002. ***

You're not the only one.

And to think CCI coasters only have hills and drops. Hmmmm.

Well you gotta look at B&M this way. lets just say you won the lottery ,and than you played the same numbers, just in a diffrent order, and you won again wouldnt you just keep on playing the same numbers just in a diffrent order until you lost? lol Its A crazy way of looking at it but its true!

Maybe that's exactly what the park wanted? Seeming as though...you know...they were the ones paying for it and all :oP

Now that is a good foot chopper. However, it's not as good as Nemesis's barrell roll over a rockface; that's a near head on crash with the scenery, foot and head chopper all rolled into one. I can see the warning sign on inferno now:

"Warning: you may come off this ride a few inches shorter!"

It would be really funny if out of the blue before testing the station track is ripped out and a Flyer station is put in, and suddenly the trains appear and are actually flyer trains. That would surprise us alot. Imagine what that ride would be like if it was a flyer!!!

I know its farfetched but hey im just coming up with it cos im bored

I like how the constructors build the ride with no shirts on...

Why does Riddler's line move so slow?
It's sponsored by AOL. ;)

I can relate to Phyter's opinion but there are a few elements about this coaster that doo seem cool.

I believe this will be the first B&M Inverted to feature interlocking flatspins. Nearly all their floorless/sitdown coasters do this but I believe this is the first for an inverted.

Another thing I found to be cool is the swooping turn after the in line twist. I find those fery fun on inverted coasters and this one looks to be intense.

However, other than what was mentioned above, this layout does seem rather mediocre. Its compact and all, but John Wardly could have squeezed some more interesting elements into there. Just look at Nemasis? I had the privilage of riding in back in 1999 and it was insane! But the thing that caught my attention, was that it was really tiny! Yet, I enjoyed it more than the massive Alpengeist! NI doesn't look quite as fun as Nemasis IMO.

Thats just my view anyway :)

What everyone should remember is that Aton Towers is subject to very strict regulations that prevent them from building above tree top level. This forced the design of Nemesis to be creative in the layout of the ride and think about integrating the ride with the terrain. I don't believe Thorpe Park is subject to the same regulations, so it is encouraging to see them also using elements involving near misses with the scenery in Nemesis Inferno from the outset.

i think B&M copies a lot of their original layouts cuz not many people travel all over and see that there are a lot of the same layout, if a good layout coaster does good, then they will probably copy and put it somewhere else where people havent heard of that coaster

Heres another update from today:

I have brought up the typical B&M layout point before and there is always at least one person that says what's above. The park DOES not design the ride. They give their budget and some things they would like included, show the plot of land they want and the designers do the rest. There may be a few designs to choose from and the park chooses the one they like the most but they do NOT design the ride!

Finally some people are noticing it...I really am not a BIG B&M fan.

Whenever I see this pic it makes me hope that they remove that car before they start testing the ride. Which is a very bad joke on my part referring to Top Gun at PKI. :P O well, the ride definitely will have a good foot chopper through that tunnel.
