Nemesis Inferno completes test run

Posted | Contributed by coasterrich

Nemesis Inferno, the 2003 B&M Inveter for Thorpe Park (UK) has completed its first run. The run took place at approx 12:00 p.m. (GMT) in the presence of Claude Mabillard. Only one run took place today with more scheduled for tomorrow, but reports suggest todays run was a sucess and the ride speed looked good for such an early test.

Extreme Rides has been updated with two shots of the first run (apologies for the quality) as well as a few pictures of land clearing for the two other new rides for 2003 - A Fabri Magic carpet and Big Wheel.

Do they not pull through first?

Yeah, if you're Intamin and have no regard for the "safety envelope." ;)

Exactly. B&M are as arrogant as can be, and always just send the train down the track to test it. "Our rides never stall during their first run", a quote from Claude Mabillard at the testing of Nemesis. :)

Is it just me, or is Nemesis Inferno really fast?

I wonder why this one only has 7 rows instead of the traditional 8? B:TR is a small invert too, and it runs 8.

If anyone is interested, you can view some more pictures and a video(Yes a Video) of the testing at http://www.zonezero.co.uk. the quality of the video is not great but definatly watchable, and its only about 500K so no need for a big connection speed.

Also Correct me if I am wrong, but I am certain B&M do not do Pull-through's on their coasters as they always prefer to just send the train round and test it. Also DRNK is right,When Nemesis was due to take its very first test run round the circuit, John Wardley was worried the coaster might stall or fail, but Claude quoted that their coasters NEVER stall when testing, and sure enough Nemesis was fine on its first test run too.

Inferno does look impressive, and it does look like it goes very fast, I am very much looking forward to that turn after the inline, thats is gonna be wild :)

I noticed that about the trains aswell... odd. I've been to Alton Towers, but does their Nemasis run the full 8? Because this could be a Tussauds thing.

IIRC La Ronde's Vampire [Batman inverted clone] is running a 7-car train, as is SFNE's Batman floorless.

B&M inverted trains have recently been resdesigned and so they are more bulky than the old ones. all new B&M inverted coasters have/will have 7 cars. look at the B:TR clone at WBMWM and vampire at la ronde, all use the new B&M inverted train design and so have 7 cars per train

Nemesis dus the normal 8 trains, weird that Inferno only has 7...Inferno looks great and really fast...but compared to Nemesis, the theming and general atmosphere of the ride isnt really up2much...
Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't Top Gun PGA always run with 7 cars since its opening in 1993? At least thats what I remeber and it also states that on RCDB.

Kaycee- They have finished the ride this early so that they can work on the themeing. I am pretty sure that there will be a volacno which you dive through among other elements. The themeing is supposed to be one of the best parts of this ride. It should be great with all of this time to do it.

Have you hugged a Beemer today?

Thanks for the info. As far as i have seen, every B&M that i have ridden has had 8 cars, except for apollo. It was just wierd to see nemesis inferno with only 7.

What was the purpose of the redesign for the trains to be more bulky? All the inverts i have ridden have been fine, plus this just reduces capacity.

B&M does a pull through of all motors and brakes. Its deemed unnecessary to pull through the entire track unless there is a very critical spot. Instead there is a ride envelope created out of PVC pipe for every ride that is used to check all clearances. Its much easier to get to certain areas of the track, and does the same job. Don't worry, it all does get checked before anything is sent around.

I have worked at Thorpe park for over 5 year now and I was the ride operator for Nem Inferno!! for the first two open seasons . Any questions regarding the ride please post and I will see if I can answer them as best I can. Even Construction questions!!!
