Neighbors to FEC complain about screams from ride

Posted | Contributed by DannyThompson

Scandia Family Fun Center has gotten so many complaints from neighbors about bloodcurdling screams that it has instituted a no-shrieking rule for its scary new thrill ride, the Scandia Screamer, a gigantic, windmill-like contraption that sends people plunging 16 stories to Earth at nearly 60 mph. Riders who let out a screech — or just about any other noise — are pulled off and sent to the back of the line.

Isn't the point of a ride to scream?
I thought it was called the screamer Hum better change the name of the ride to "Stupid Whinny Neighbors"

My grandparents lived next to eight-lane I-71 in Cleveland. I can't imagine a ride like that would be any worse.

My sister lives about 500 feet from 71. She also has the rapid transit, the railroad and the incoming airplane traffic for the airport. It can be pretty loud there sometimes.

A while back, someone was investigating using noise cancellation technology to cut down on freeway noise. I wonder what ever became of it? It involved picking up the sound waves with microphones and then broadcasting the opposite wave in the direction of the noise to cancel out the waves. Sounded neat, but I still see Cal Trans building ugly freeway walls.

So if people are on this Drop Ride, and they scream on the "drop"... then the ride's over. They pull them off, and send them to the back of the line? lol Didn't they just ride it anyway and its time to get off now? Comletely ironic of them. Makes no sense at all.

The neighbors are plain stupid since they live near a 12 lane super highway. I am sure that the traffic makes alot more noise than someone screaming on a ride. It seems that the neighbors don't have a life and want to complain about everything that makes a noise.
It's not a drop ride eNeRtIa, it's ride called Skyscraper built by Gravity Works Inc. It's like a huge two armed swing with pods on the end that rotate.

This is bullcrap. Old people and their ways are the reason for most of the worlds problems! ;)

I can imagine ridership will go down the tubes, I mean screaming is a body's natural reaction to some of the forces the ride creates, some people just cannot help it. This whole situation is complete BS. Go on a high intensity thrill ride... but don't let out a peep, I'm sure some people are like "WTF?!", I know I am...
Reminds me of the time

The State of CT in the mid 80's decided to put up sound walls (6 by 6 railroad ties 30 ft long) But the only installed for residents who lived there prior to 1940 (or so)

They spent millions on that for people who had been living next to a highway for 45 (or so ) years.

AFTER 45 years THEY PROBABLY COULDN'T SLEEP WITHOUT THE NOISE.
