Need pics of Millbrook Park Coaster

OK historians, I need your help! I am currently building a model of the Side Friction coaster that operated at Millbrook Park in New Boston, Ohio (just east of Portsmouth). It will be put on display so it needs to be accurate! It was built in 1902 and ran until the flood of 1913, after which it was not repaired. The park itself succumbed to the growing steel industry and multiple floods (the same that affected Cincy's Coney Island).

If anyone has photos or track diagrams of it (or knows someone that does), please contact me! I have researched the ride and have only found 3 photos of it, in libraries and the Ramada in Portsmouth. I am able to easily see the upper half, but cannot tell what happens on the last leg to the station. It appears to be at least 10 feet higher than Leap the Dips, and has structure characteristics of Ingersoll coasters at that time. As with most coasters from that era there are a couple small dips at the end, so I can always put that in if I run out of options. Though books like The Incredible Scream Machine show coasters from this era, there is nothing of Millbrook's, and online searches have only turned up a couple things about the town. Each one of Ingersoll's appears to be a custom design as well. Thanks in advance for your help.

Ah! So thats the project you have been working on in our basement!
Brad,

When you come down and talk to the Mayor of New Boston, you may get to meet with a councilman who has a few more pictures. His name is Steve Jenkins. There are not many pictures of Millbrook's coaster available though, so my guess is you will have to design the last part of the model yourself.

Thanks Darren. Anything will help!

John....actually one of about 4 projects! And I have to do it in about 1/20th the space of our basement thanks to our other roommate! Good thing I am working in H.O. scale!

Will this be an operating model by any chance?

Speaking of that, the M.E. chain from Walther's is backordered until August!

everything's better with a banjo

No, it's a static one. Yikes! Bummer on the chain. That is one of the problems with ordering. Seems like there is always something that doesn't want to cooperate!

Hi, Im from New Boston. I can try to get a pic for you if your not close enough.  Also if you goto the community building next to walmart there is a pic of the coaster in there.  And like mention before Mr Jenkins (my ol' biology teacher) should be able to help. But if you need any help let me know.

Krista,

I got Brad an appointment with the mayor of New Boston later this month. Brad saw a picture just like the one in the New Boston city building when we went to the Ramada Inn in Portsmouth. There is one in Damon's. Have you seen the mural of Millbrook Park? I have studied this park for the last three years.

Good news Brad! The day you meet with the Mayor, you may get to see a ticket for the roller coaster at Millbrook Park. I heard that a councilman had talked to someone whose mother had a ticket for the coaster and never used the ticket.Of course, back then this ticket had a value of 5 cents, today it is priceless!

Darren,

Its funny you mention damons cause in all the times i've ate there i've never really paid attention. But like you i've seen the pic in the office.  (course living in new boston i'd hope i'd see it). also might want to keep an eye out on ebay. every so often i see a post card of it up for auction.

Krista, thank you! That Wessels page is great (except for the leg amputation!). I've got the postcard, mug and magnet, so I guess you could say I've been to the park! As for your signature, was that written before Mill. Force? :)

Now that's what a park should look like! A park! Lot's of grass and space and water...kinda like Monet's Garden.
Ok Ok...I like small crowded parks too (e.g. IB)...but It'd be nice to see a park that actually looked like a park.
BTW...I'd love to see a park with landscaping on par with Golden Gate Park for anyone who's been there.

Janfrederick, you need to go to Idlewild Park or Kennywood. They actually have trees and grass. Imagine that!
Just refreshing this in case someone with info missed it. Thanks, and pics will be posted as it is completed.
