Hey people. I noticed that many people I chat with can't get custom music to sound right in RCT2. Well, I just got it to work for me. I'll tell you how you can too. First, you'll need Cool Edit Pro. I got the trial version at www.download.com
After you load the MP3 you want, go to File - Save As.
Now, this is where it's important you do stuff right. Change the Save as type feild to ACM Waveform (*.wav) . There are multiple (*.wav) , but you need to select ACM Waveform. Now, click Options. Make sure filter is set to PCM, and Attributes should be set to 22.050 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo. If you have those two things set up right, click OK, and name the file CUSTOM1 or CUSTOM2. Move these files into the data folder in your RCT2 folder. Now, go into RCT2, and they are listed as Custom Music 1 or Custom Music 2 in the music tab of rides!
I made mine be Moby - Porcelain, for my Deja Vus (because SFGAm's promo video had that song), and the Demon song is my second one. It's funny being able to hear the classic Demon music on a roller coaster again!
Well, I hope somebody finds this useful. I know nobody has asked how to get custom music in RCT2, but people I chat with always have had troubles. Hopefully this can help you.

Thats not Cool Edit Pro. http://download.com.com/3000-2170-10109879.html?tag=lst-0-7
There is the exact link for the instructions I gave. Maybe that MP3 to wave converter works, but I havn't tested that one.
I think the reason it goes slow is that it is suppoed to be 8bit not 16bit. Check rct.ogresnet.com sometime and it has the directions in the knowledge base. The site is down right now so I can't check it.
Edit: Here are the directions

Chris,
you can name a file Custom 3, but the game won't recognize it

I use 16 bit files and they work fine - the bitrate isn't the culprit. It's probably something to do with the sample rate (specifically the method used) - just changing the file's sample rate to 22,050 doesn't work, you must make sure it actually gets resampled.
Also, Winamp (THE mp3 player) can output to a wav file (at least version 2.x could, not sure about 3.x) - there's no need for a seperate utility (unless winamp 3.x doesn't output to wav :) )
