I found an old cedar point map in a box, and it does not have a date on it. I am trying to pinpoint the exact year of the map. I know it's gotta be from the 60's or 70's.
Here is the map...

Any help would be great.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
It shows the observation tower, which was added in 1966. It also shows the original Shoot The Rapids which was removed in 1981. That'll help you narrow it down a bit I hope.
It has Zugspitze on it - which was demolished in early 72 -
And Mine Ride which was opened in 1969 - So I'd say it's a 69-71 map.
You may be able to pin point exact using the defunct ride listing on the Wiki.
Wiki, assuming all facts are correct, is helping.
In 1976 the midway was extended and part of the lagoon filled in, making Jungle Larry's no longer on an island. This map clearly shows Larry's on an island so it's pre-1976.
I am thinking it is pre-1972, because jumbo jet is not listed yet.

Let's start with the big stuff...
Blue Streak = 1964 or later.
Mine Ride = 1969 or later.
No Corkscrew = Earlier than 1976
Wildcat = 1970 or later
No Cedar Point Cinema = Earlier than 1975
No Frontier Carousel = Earlier than 1972
No Giant Wheel = Earlier than 1972
I made some comments on the photos. We need someone who knows what changed in the park between 1970 and 1971, because with the huge changes in 1970 and 1972, it seems clear that the map is from either 1970 or 1971. The question is, which year?

Thank's dave.
I agree, it has to be 70 or 71. Did the park get anything in 1971, that may or may not be on the map. I thought there was a timeline of cedarpoint somewhere.
Found a timeline...

It looks like the map may be from 1970, but the history says that the frontier trail was not connected till 1971. I also see the trabant on the map. So that would sugest 1971. But again, camper village is not on the map eather.

I am about to add a few more pictures....maybe it will help.

It also shows 2 front gates. I am not sure, but was the other gate for the tram people to use?

The "Million Dollar Midway" was installed for the Centennial Year, 1970. The RR station was moved from the location shown on this map (up near the Marina Gate) down to the end of the midway expansion that year. So I'd say that it's no later than 1969.
Yep. I am going to go with 1971 as well.
Yea, I can't believe how much it has changed eather.

Cedar Point looks like CharmLand with all those trees and water!
It's interesting, though, to see how much more well defined the lagoons were back in Frontiertown. It looks like there were two channels under the Frontier Trail and a little channel over by Mine Ride. The channel near Mine Ride was expanded, and the reservoir for White Water Landing was installed on the other side, and over where those two small channels are shown on the map, that is now a pond on one side and a reservoir for Snake River Falls on the other.
So while the park has lost a lot of trees, it seems to have gained quite a lot of water!

Water can either be charming, or anti-charming. It's inherently charm neutral.
