Need Computer Help

I need someone who is in the know. Over on the newly recreated Guide To the Point, I cannot get my cursor into the message box to type anything. I can manuever around in the site. I can even post a reply (though it won't say anything b/c I can't type in the message box).

Can anyone help me? Anyone? Buehler?

One of two things are likely happening. 1) You have JavaScript turned off. 2) You're using a pop-up killer or something else that's interfering with making that box "live."

Possibly using an outdated browser version.....I know that a lot of our users run into similar problems when using IE 5.0 or older......(if they're using Netscape, I try to "convert" them....;)).

Any resemblance between this post and humor is purely coincidental. No robots were harmed in the filming of this episode...The sarcasm filter default has been left ON for your enjoyment.

That's just evil to try to convert people to Microscam products ;)

Doesn't it seem as though morons always have the caps lock on?

I am on 5.0 but I find it odd that I am having no problems here or on other sites that I frequently post. Unfortunately, GTTP is my favorite and I am starting to experience withdrawal. Can't......go.....on.......Need.....help......soon! Ugh.

wahoo, try going here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/download/ie55sp2.htm It'll get you to Explorer 5.5, which MAY help but won't hurt...

MWB, as an economist first, I abhor monopolies as the "enemy of the people", but as a computer support person second...;), I love the compatability of Microsoft products...(I put Netscape 6.0 on a machine to test it before our users got a hold of it, and HATED it's invasiveness)...

I suppose if you're going to be running windows, you might as well run Exploiter :) I prefer Red Hat or Debian on non-Apple boxes. Mozilla is my browser of choice there.

Well, it must be a work thing b/c I am able to post from home. Strange. I am sure my version of IE at home is older than the one at work.

Jeff is probably right then.....(expletive deleted...;)). Try going through Tools, Internet Options, Advanced Tab...and see what's checked under Microsoft VM...that's where your Java permissions are...
NEWS ALERT: The problem is fixed!!! I don't know what I did or did not do but it looks like I am back. Thanks!

The problem might not exactly be fixed... you can probably do it on the reply but not a new message. Do let me know...

Bummer. I jumped the gun. I could type in the text box and hit reply but my message wasn't saved. My post showed up as nothing, so I deleted it.

I am sure this is a lot of work, Jeff. Good luck with it. Wish I could help but I don't know Jack about computers.

Ah... that finally makes sense! People kept saying "my post disappears" but in fact was never actually made. That makes much more sense.

(I put Netscape 6.0 on a machine to test it before our users got a hold of it, and HATED it's invasiveness).

I didn't think you could get more invasive than IE? At least w/ Netscape, you have a choice whether to install the "extras" or not, except AOL Instant Messenger, which can be easily removed afterwards.

I use Opera and Netscape. I had the same problem with Opera 6.01 as the original poster yesterday, but figured out my javascript had gotten turned off (a quick 'F12', then 'E' in Opera turned it back on).
