Need amish? (CLP!)

I was told by someone at CLP in my family, that Blue Streak's workers (ala amish) decided to leave for some type of convention elsewhere. So now the park is stuck without anyone to work on the Bluestreak, and are in need of amish to finish up the woodwork. They could not open it because of rottening lumber throughout the ride that needs replaced.

This is true, I know it sounds weird, but it is, lol :) *** Edited 6/19/2004 9:10:19 PM UTC by SteveWoA***

The woodworkers working on replacing old wood on Blue Streak have left for a convention and this leaves Conneaut Lake Park without anyone to finish the work on Blue Streak. The park cannot open Blue Streak because the work has yet to be finished on it.

I was at the park on Friday and the older gentleman running the carousel said that the amish workers were gone for the week so no one is working on the blue streak right now. Other then that he just said no one ever tells him what is going on with it. Has it run at all yet this season?

For a second, I thoguht you were going to ask for more Amish to come continue the work. (and of all places, on the internet. ;-))
I am one of the people who are going to be doing the Blue Streak Challenge next month and so I emailed one of the contacts for the event, Kelly Petrachkoff
from the Conneaut Lake Preservation Society, to see if this is true and if it might impact the date for the marathon (July 19th).

Here's the reply:

The Blue Streak should be up and running by this Wednesday. In fact, I'm waiting on a call right now from the new CEO, Don Kaltenbaugh, to make sure it will be running for ACE Day at the Lake this Sunday.

I'm sure we'll have no problems concerning the Challenge.

Kelly
