Neat effects on coasters

What are some of your favorite effects on coasters?

One of my favorites has to be Raptor's Cobra Roll's lighting effect at night. A few seconds before the train does the cobra roll, the bright lights shining up on it slowly dims. Next, a strobe light turns on just as the train goes through it. I just think it's so cool how it's synchronized so well. I didn't even notice the strobe light while riding it, but I did catch it while walking down the midway.

Anyone else notice that?

So, what is your favorite effect?

I like the part of Dragon Mountain at Marineland in Ontario where you think the ride is over, but it suprises you with a long drop into a double inversion element.
Also I like the parts of Disaster Transport where you can't see at all.

I'm guessing that strobe light is where the camera takes your on ride photo.

Nope. That is a strobe light. Your picture is taken before the helix at the end.

Honestly, my favorite effect was (is if PKI ever shuts down the lights on it) the Beast and I think SOB does it as well. Complete darkness so you dont know where the hell you are. I dont know about SOB cause the only time i saw it at night was outside on the parking lot. (last day of the season)

all about PKI,
the Beasts` Den!!!!!!!!
I personally like Loch Ness Monster's lighting effects. After the second drop from the coaster, the train enters a tunnel. The tunnel has a carnival-like effect and the coaster spins around and around the tunnel, very close to the walls. On the walls are thousands and thousands of white (or different colored, I forget?) light bulbs. Also, near the end of the spiraling down tunnel near is a picture of a dragon and and mist hits you. I love the lighting, the mist and the downward spiraling of the coaster and how close to was to the walls. I loved the tunnel effect, it was great in my opinion. It has the most lighting and themeing on a coaster that is not a themed coaster in my opinion of all the coasters that I have ridden. (Which does not say much.)

Goliath's green glow on the lift hill at night is really tight.
Yeah ACE15 is right about good 'ol Nessie. I also agree with Tom---if they ran the Beast like Holiday World does theirs...........OH MY GOD! The Legend was indeed the best and scariest coaster ride of my life at last year's Stark Raven Mad. This is a must for anyone that loves wood coasters, CCI, and PITCH (not a light for miles) darkness.

I think flipping seats are pretty cool.
For an effect during the ride itself, Raptor's cobra roll is great indeed. For overall effect, nothing, and I mean nothing compares to Millennium Force at night. (Note: When you see me use bold and italics at the same time, you can be sure it's something special.)

I have always heard the light on top of MF was a mandate made by the city so low flying planes wouldn't hit it. If so does all parks that decide to build an attraction over 300 feet tall have to have some type of lighting system so low flying smaller planes don't crash or is it just cedar point?

The scenery on DL's Big Thunder, incredible. It makes a rather tame ride really fun.

glicht01- yeah i notice that to on the raptor. it blinded me @ first.Anyway. i like the special effects on Mf I think there so cool @ night. it just lights up the sky @ night.
JORDAN- Yes, I believe everything over 200(?) feet must have an ari-traffic light on top.

I know there is a limit for that, but I don't know specifically what the height is.
