Viper, Goliath, S:ROS, V2, Medusa, Batman...you get the idea.

I'm not real big on the superhero themeing either but that's a different story.
I think a name can certainly help in forming coaster's legacy. Would classic woodies like Phoenix and Raven have even half the legacy they do if they had some generic commercialized name? Would steel mosnsters like Magnum XL-200 or Goliath have the same enthusiasm behind them if they had the same generic brand trademarks slapped on them. Perhaps, but it wouldn't be the same. The only exception I can really think of to this rule offhand is S:ROS at SFNE, but I guess in that case the ride is just too good to overlook. Just imagine if it had been given some creative personality all of it's own. It'd certainly stand out even more than it does now. Or how about a ride like Dueling Dragons. Classic case of giving a ride (or rides) a personality. If it was just another good superhero vs bad superhero type theme it wouldn't have nearly the same feel or impact in the enthusiats community even if it was truly the exact same ride. (unless you prefer superhero stories to a well crafted legend of two long enemied dragons).
I guess I just like the idea of originality and adding a personality to a coaster over slapping a trademarked, prepackaged image on it.
There's also the issue of long standing "generic" names that many coasters have used regardless of park ownership. There's been many "Corkscrew's", "Cyclone's" and the like.
There's also names that fall in between. While not totally original, they're hardly a "generic" name and have been used in many parks. There's are currently 8 coasters operating worldwide that use the name "Wildcat" for example.
The best names are the ones that are unique and give a coaster a "life" of it's own. Let's see more great names/themes like Montu or Phantom's Revenge or Mantis. You hear these names and immediately know what coaster you're talking about. They're unique and give a ride a little something extra.

Yeah, all two of their coaster names that share one word in common. I'm still unsure of what "etc." emcompasses; there are no others.
Seriously though, you do have a point, I guess. They could've picked up a thesarus and found another word for "force".
Still not as confusing and faceless as Batman: The Ride, Batman: Knight Flight, Batman: The Escape and Batman and Robin: The Chiller. Tell someone about a coaster you rode themed to Batman and you could be talking about 1 of 10 coasters.
Or Superman: Ride Of Steel, Superman: The Escape, Superman: Ultimate Escape, Superman: The Ride and Superman: Krypton Coaster. There's 5 very similar names that account for 8 different roller coasters.
Then mix it up with different licensed superheroes and the different suffixes: both Superman and Batman have The Ride and The Escape. 4 totally different rides with essentially the same name.
That's about as faceless and uncreative as coaster themeing gets. Plus it could easily lead to lots of confusion (especially with the GP) - but I think that's kind of the point.
Plus it builds brand recognition if people all over the country can go to a Six Flags park and ride a Batman or Superman or Joker or Riddler or whatever. The corporate thing will always win in the end.
Can you tell I feel strongly about coaster names? :)
