I think Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde would be great for a dueling coaster.

Thank you for riding America's Roller Coast
I like monkeys. Sorry, just had to add that to see if people were still paying attention. Now, about the topic. I think names play a major role in the amusement industry. Think about it. Put yourself in the GP's shoes. You've never entered a coaster website before. You have no clue who makes them and who doesn't. You see an ad on tv about a new coaster coming to the park near you. The commercial starts with some cool music, and some screaming people. Then they throw the name out there..."Introducing a new thrill for the 2001 season, the fiercest coaster in the west, Ladybug!" Now, tell me that the GP would want to ride this coaster with a name like that. Names are the first thing the regular Joe hears. "Hey, did you hear about SFWhatever putting in a new coaster called Magnum Force?" Without knowing anything about the ride itself, the GP will instantly want to ride something with a cool, perilous sounding name. That's just my opinion of course, but I think a lot of you agree with me. :)

I don't think it makes a impact on the public. Because the public almost never gets the names right. Nor do they spell it right.:)

Ride with full FORCE
I don't think a name really matters, its just a way of telling one coaster from another. Kind of like people and their names

Number 1 And Only Cedar Point
I like the name 'Roller Coaster'
I love "The Gravity-Defying CORKSCREW," wherever that is, I always get a kick out of it...
SO do you think that a park, like oh let's say Cedar Point would get as many patrons if they named their rides Ride1, Ride2, and so on verses Millienium Force, Raptor, and so on?
There is a possibility that after a ride initially gets played out that the name could change . For instance , if the popularity of Batman and Superman fell out , they could retheme all of those into something else . Even Joe Common that visits a park every 10 years that has ridden Batman might forget that the ride was Batman and find it new as something else , or maybe he's ridden Batman at one park , they change the name at another , there's one more new ride for him . Plus , alot of coasting people would return to see some of these rides as something else and the park people may anticipate that .
Well like I said, I think names only help you tell one coaster from another. If a coaster was 400 ft and was named "Happy Fuzzy Bunnies" I wouldn't look at the name, I would see that 400ft. As for Ride 1 and 2. I don't think the General Public will say, "Oh they suck at nameing rides, let go to the park that has 1 coaster named Bomb."

Number 1 And Only Cedar Point
hehe CoasterGenius I could say myself wearing a big t-shirt that says "I SURVIVED ROLLER COASTER 2!"
I would hate to hear people say the full name of the Coaster everytime it's mentioned. I would go crazy hearing people say Superman: Ultimate Escape all the time. I hope people don't start on rides like Viper:The Coaster that Strikes Twice or Ninja:The Black Belt of Coasters, or T2:Hang & Bang!! My favorite ride name is XLR8.
