Name the coasters in this TV commerical....

The ad is for Viceroy Cigarettes.

Despite the fact that such ads have been banned in the US since 1971 ( Baltimore & Denver it was 1969 ) ads for smokes are still shot here to air in other countries.

A few coasters are shown in these ads. Where are they? Viceroy doesn't say.

Not sure as there wasn't much to go on. The first wooden one, I'd say maybe Rattler or something in the PacNW area? The white one in the 2nd commercial, dunno. White with blue handrails.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Not sure about the first one (did Texas Giant have any spots that looked like that?). But the second one, the white one, looks like it might be either the Great American Scream Machine, or the Screamin' Eagle. The tree cover leads me to suspect Screamin' Eagle, but I don't know when it got its "updated" seats and lap bars. The coaster in the reverse POV has low seat backs and appears to have the old style handlebars (you can't see the bars, but you can see the mechanism cover at the edge of the car).

Sorry my bad. Unlike You Tube, this is a raw feed from some advertising agency out of Cincinatti.

I used to be really good at immediately identifying coasters shown on TV, but that was a long time ago. Probably about 10,000 new coasters have been built since then. lol

One of the tricks is that you have to rule out anything built after the video was released!

My first thought on the first one was TG too, Dave, but I can't remember any specific trackage like that...looking at rcdb only added to my belief that it isn't the ride in question....

The second one looks *exactly* like Screamin' Eagle to me...

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Yeah, I'm with you on Screamin' Eagle, except that I don't know when the trains were modified. Because of the single track through the trees, Screamin' Eagle was my first guess, GASM my second.

Actually my first guess for the first one was Stampida because it looks like it might be a racer, but there is a slight problem with that...it hadn't been built yet.

Except, Dave, that I have been alive for so long that I really can't remember when all those coasters were built. I think I have Roller Coaster Altimers.

The first one appears to be footage of Mr. Twister. Second one is definitely Screamin' Eagle, but I'm not sure if the reverse POV is as well. Could be very old footage taken with the original PTCs, which were last used in the 1989 season.

I thought Mr. Twister as well, initially, then I realized...wasn't that one painted white?

1989 footage in a 1993 advertisement is probably about the right timing.
