Mystic Timbers Testing

It appears the new ride is testing. The trains look nothing like what the description was. Do you think there was budget cuts or are they going to add the theming on later?

Maybe they're keeping it in the shed.

Screw it, I'm cancelling our trip. I was so looking forward to the front car having headlights.

Possibly they grew to realize it looked awful?

Of course the budget is cheapened...Its from the two faced basic Cedar Fair not the glorious Busch Gardens management.

You cant expect much with Cedar Fair other than disappointment.

Gatekeeper... Valravn... Breakers renovation... Fury... Harmony Hall...

"Two faced [sic]"? "Basic?"

Perhaps you haven't heard that Cedar Fair has a new(ish) CEO?

Methinks still bitter over previous corporate decisions involving a park in northern Ohio. And,... that's fine. Nothing to do about it now.

But then again, Carowinds just opened a re-imagined County Fair area with four new, large flats, a re-themed coaster, and a great new look. From photos and vids I've seen it's along the same groove as CP's Gemini midway- pavers, signage, string lights, rides, stuff like that, and it looks nice. Really cute, and a much needed re-do.
But hold on- it seems fans in the area have found reason to complain. Something about 2 of the rides, namely the Electro Spin (Top Scan) and Do-Si-Do (TroikaTroikaTroika) being barren of flashy, LED light packages.
"But they PROMISED!" is the cry.

So, apparently this community is still somewhat of a tough room. I prefer to see the half-full aspect of all these things, and vow to remain grateful for a brand new wooden coaster, in my locality, or four good sized adult flats in theirs. And who knows? Maybe along the way these coveted themed elements will eventually appear. Or not. Oh well.

What I can't wait to see is what's in that fabled shed. For the experience, certainly, but more so to see how fast the enthusiast world explodes with complaints and disappointment after the long awaited reveal. Somebody out there will find a reason not to like it. Hide and watch.

Did Timber-Rider change his name and aim the irrational vitriol toward the entire chain now instead of just one park?

I can't believe people are this over-sensitive to the front of the train not being on yet. Someone asked the KI page on Facebook and they said it would be put on once testing is complete. But really, who cares? Even if they didn't put the car fronts on, is the ride any worse for it? It's not like it's an integral theming element like Disney's broken Yeti...

I've had the exact same thought. Makes you wonder if this marketing ploy, which I always thought was fun and kinda cool, could backfire because expectations are now so high. Like, what if it's just a bunch of vines that drop from the ceiling and tickle your face, or something?

Cedar Fair bought the headlights & train theming and LED lighting packages just so they could not install them and ship them to other parks. Bastards.

But then again, what do I know?

The website in your profile is dead. Was your budget cheapened?

Cedar Fair probably bought it just to shut it down.

I can't speak for Williamsburg, but the Busch Tampa guest experience has kind of sucked recently. My trips to Busch Tampa in the last five years haven't been anywhere near as good as my trips to Cedar Fair parks in the last five years.

My only problem with the SW/BG parks is that they have extremely slow operations, and that's pretty much chain-wide in my experience as long as I've been visiting those parks. There are exceptions, but there never seemed to be much of a sense of urgency.

Let's be honest, whatEVER is in the shed, will work for the first year, and probably gradually deteriorate over the next three years, only to be an urban legend for later generations.

Adventure Express, Tomb Raider, Stunt Coaster, etc.

Which sucks because the people who are working on "the shed" are some of the best people in the biz, and are really good at what they do.

Unless the headlights would have been functionally, I am would not have missed them. A night ride with flickering headlights would have been sweet! Do the trains even resemble a truck? I couldn't tell from the video I saw.

Kings Island apparently released a photo today showing a green train with the truck front-end attached. The testing photos and video we have seen so far has been of an orange train without the nosepiece on it. That kind of surprised me as the renderings all indicated the "truck" would be blue.

No word on whether the headlights are functional or not. But it's worth noting that GCI has done functioning headlights in the past...don't know if they still work or not, but Kentucky Rumbler opened with working lights.
