What about the *hidden* inversion?

Long live the Big Bad Wolf

Maybe they're the same?

You stop on a flat piece of track, and the brakes engage. Then, the entire piece of track flips around with some lighting/projection special effects. :)

(or not...)

There are two inversions in the 2nd half and no turntable. The horseshoe turn 'might' be considered by some as an inversion, but that's up for debate i suppose.
..debate like the inclined dive loop on Hydra? :)

..or debate like whether or not S:TE is a rollercoaster? ;)

I dont know about all of that but when I last saw all of the recent pictures the ride looks really nice especially the mine building.

I got to ride Mystery Mine for the first time today! It was the soft opening, but it was great. I'll try to tell as much as possible without giving too much away.

We only had to wait about 5 minutes to get on the ride. The other roller coasters had a 10-15 minute wait, I think alot of people are scared of this one. When you go to get on, you're inside and sit in a car 4 across, with two rows. I don't know if they're going to connect the cars or not, but so far each car goes by itself.

You start off inside the mine and go through several turns and drops. Then you go outside to a straight up 90 degree lift. Its unlike anything I've ever been on before, but hard to explain the feeling as you're going straight up into the sky. Here you go back down, through some turns (not a coaster guru so can't explain greatly) then back inside.

Inside are some neat special effects, but I don't want to give anythign away so I'll leave it at that. Then you go outside to where you see before you board the ride into a twisty corkscrew type turn, an upside down sort of loop and then done.

I think the coaster is about 2 minutes, but it doesn't feel long enough...though no coaster ever does for me. My husband and I rode it 4 times in a row =D

If you have any questions just ask, I'll answer anythign I remember. Can you tell I love this ride?

Mystery Mine is the best!
Seems like you enjoyed it enough to join a coaster dork [and I say that lovingly, don't you all look at me like that] site and rave about it :)

Congrats, and welcome to the board! *** Edited 4/1/2007 10:46:46 PM UTC by BBSpeed26***

We are definately going to be at Dollywood for the offical opening of Mystery Mine. I am excited not only to ride the coaster, but to possibly get a quick photo of the master of ceremonies!

Real men ride wood... coasters that is!
Here's a small bit of press that mentions Mystery Mine (at the bottom).
