I've decided on either MB or DW. Is there anything at MB really worth going that far out of the way. I went to DW last year so I know it's a pretty nice park with a great woodie and a good arrow.
I'm leaning hard toward DW.
Honestly, the good stuff at Myrtle is as follows: Swamp Fox (FK), Great Pistolero Round-Up (FK), Mad Mouse (MBP), and the Top Spin at MBP. There's also a cool kiddie "Little Eagle" at MBP.
If I were you - I'd be tempted to get to the Pavilion while it's still around....although my oddsmakers tell me it SHOULD have one more season left, it'd be a shame to never get there...
Finally, MBP's Hurricane is truly a gigantic waste of lumber and steel...awful ride. Salt air + no maintenance + G-trains + lateral-heavy layout = :(:(:(
There is also a Crazy Mouse spinning coaster about 7 miles north of the Pavilion on Hwy 17. Great fun!
What rollergator says though makes sense. The Pavilion may not be around much longer. Long live the Swamp Fox!!! *** Edited 8/9/2005 2:35:21 AM UTC by swampfoxer***
However, if you've never been to myrtle, and even if you have, Pavilion's fate is uncertain. Get there. There are loads of things to do at Myrtle, plus the beach! And Family Kingdom is a great park. Plus, this year, both Pavilion & Family Kingdom have a Sally Shootem up Darkride.
I'd say Myrtle, if for nothing other than the beach. It is worth going down there.
Dollywood is amazing but it's going to be around for a LONG time.
The Pavillion on the other hand, well, we just don't know. Get there while you have the chance! I haven't been there in 15 years so I am sure it's changed quite a bit. The Swamp Fox is a GREAT little out-and-back.

Let me put it this way free rides or pay for your rides?
Not sure exactly what you mean by "free rides". Are you assuming the original poster has a season pass?
If he does not, ticket prices are $43.50 for DW.
Family Kingdom at Myrtle Beach has an all day pass for $19.50 (you can print a $3.00 coupon on the internet).
Pavilion has an all day pass for $24.95 (plenty of discount coupons available).
So, for 95ยข more (not counting the discount coupons for the MB parks) you can enjoy all the rides in 2 parks at Myrtle Beach. Plus, the parks at the beach stay open later than Dollywood's 8pm.
I love Dollywood, but if I had to choose, I would get my money's worth (ride-wise) at MB.
