Myrtle Beach Hurricane:cat. 5!!! 6/30/02--7/5/02

Associated parks:
None

UM great ride, better than the woodies in my home state of VA but on the real. I rode it only once cause I had much more important stuff to do. I am 16 so I just went to some 18 and under clubs and got the hookup to get into a 18 and over one(hehee) bought tons of mardi gras beads gave em all away to hot girls in exchange for flashing. Man this coaster to too good to be in a place with distractions, but i just think I could care less about coasters now, did not buy a season pass to pkd this year for the first time in 4 years. But the ride was straight fun and the helixs were cool, but again on the real clubs/girls/mardi gras beads vs a coasters, umm no comparison.
And why are you telling us about girls flashing you on a roller coaster website?
Someone had fun. I don't understand where the coaster comes into play but whatever.

What the hell are you talking about? You keep going from girls flashing you to great coaster.

Glad you had fun, but since this does happen to be a coaster website, I'll point out that you missed Myrtle Beach's true gem, the Swamp Fox right up the road. More and more people seem to do this. When I went I expected the Hurricane to be the big thing and the Swamp Fox to be more for the 'credit' as I'm sure others have, but the Swamp Fox is easily the best at the Grand Strand IMO.

umm is the Swamp fox the ride at family kingdom. I skipped it cause it looked weak, now i regret it(not more than having to leave a girl behind though)haha lol sorry but I mean i feel that is part of the park experiene cause pavillion is like right across the street from clubs I mean, have fun at a park then club after the park closes. Part of the amusement minus the park. hahah. I was getting girls from the park to go to the club, one club was above the pavillion arcade i mean come on, park experience or not.

Just on a side note, how far is Family Kingdom from Myrtle Beach Pavilion? I'm going in a week, and I'm curious how conveniently positioned the two parks are for hopping back and forth to.

Universal Orlando regular since the first day of IOA's soft opening...

I remember from the top of Hurricane I could easily see the ferris wheel at Family Kingdom. They are on the same street, but I'm not sure if you would want to try walking or not. Probably not.

probably 12-14 blocks. family kingdom is about 1-2 miles south of the pavilion on ocean boulevard. you will have to drive it though, it's a long walk.

seek first to understand
then to be understood

I've walked back & forth between the rides many, many times. It's easy to park at FK, & have a safe spot than it is to park in that garage, LOL.
Friendly's is there, to, yum yum.

You can see the Fox from the Hurricane. You thought she looked weak? OMG!
Do this next time. Ride the Swamp Fox twice, once in the third seat, once in the back, early in the day. Go ride the Hurricane until you're heart's content. Go back to the Swamp Fox at night, try the same seats again! Mind you, tighten the seatbelt as much as possible because you're going to be standing up at some points during the evening. Every lap that thing gets faster, every day without fail. Easily one of the best kept secrets of all time, the Swamp Fox is.

The Hurricane, actually, I cannot decide which one's better. They're very different rides from each other. If you have a little bar space, Hurricane has great air. More importantly, IMO, it accelerates it seems like alot. As soon as you slow some, it picks up. The third hill into the helice & one part of the helice will have you weightless. Girls are important, but did you hear me? Weightless. Speed. The girls are open much later than the Pavilion, yo! Any how, it's good that they're both there. Buy a band at the Pavilion, though! It's much more fair at FK to buy by ride.

Starcoasters! Any word on the tower at FK? I heard they had put something up! What's the word?

Hehehe, The Strip + Beads = Fun times in MB.

Swamp Fox is definately the better of the two. I wish I could get back to Myrtle Beach this summer, but unfortunately, I can't :(. Such a great place...

p_c_r: I actually haven't been down there since last summer, but Family Kingdom has installed a Chance Sling Shot. They intended to have it open by the 4th, but did not. I am not sure if it is open yet.

yeah i saw it when i drove by i thought it was just the base peices to a ss tower, that thing is small.

A slinghot, darn! I think I'm scared of those. An S&S on the beach, even a short little blast tower, would be nice, but oh, well. Thanks, Starcoasters.

I'm still laughing because the Swamp Fox looked weak to him;). I cannot criticize, LOL, the last time I went over to the MB was to see Rob Zombie, & neither ride got hit:(. MB can be a place for all different kinds of folk to get into trouble, there can be alot to do.
