My Knex TTD Model

Over the past month or so, Ive been working on a model of Top Thrill Dragster. http://www.maj.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=86432

Its 6 and a 1/2 feet tall and about 9ft. long. To scale its not totally accurate because of the knex track. I created a brake run out of some cardboard and tape. Thanks to my friend Reuben for hosting these on his site (thats him w/my cat).

Hydra

That's really awesome. Does the train make it through the circuit, or is it just a model.

This is the guy, behind the guy, behind the guy
I used the Knex Rippin Rocket coaster set to make TTD, I used the boosters that come with the set.

Heres a pic: http://www.maj.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=101662

Very Interested, How does your concept on the brake run work?. Does that actually slow the car down ?. It looks like a line of masking tape, very creative, heck if you had another set or extra pieces you could potentially turn it into Kingda Ka. I really hope coaster dynamix comes out with some more styles in the future hopefully an Intamin maybe at least a BM Hyper which could be just as doable ;), but I'll keep dreaming, plus Ill keep dreaming that I had the money to buy a set, haha. EVen though there actually not so bad anymore I know a hobbie store about an hr away from me sells them for a reasonable price.

As much as I think these are cool, I am kinda getting bored with all of the TTD models. No doubt its a good job, and they are all different, but I just prefer to see some custom designs. Do you have any other models?
Hydra - you didn't answer jack coaster's questions, doest the train make it through the circuit? My initial reaction would be no as the placement of the boosters back to back wouldn't appear to maximise the energy of the boosters and provide the extra boost found on the normal Rippin Rocket setup.
Yes the train makes it through the circuit. I oiled the wheels with motor oil to make everything roll better so that it makes it over the top. I had the boosters up farther, but I moved them back so I could get roll backs :).

SFDL Dan - the brakes work like skid brakes found on some wooden coasters (phoenix)

RamblinWreck - I made a model of Xcelerator but i dont have any pics. Im thinking of modeling Kanonen at Liseberg at some point.

Yeah, I do K'nex models too, but mine are custom. Here's an immelman from one I'm working on now.

Here's what leads up to the immelman.

Going into that heartline is a loop and a cutback, then the station with a rubber band launch.

I've done others, but they aren't the greatest. BTW, your model looks nice.

Adrenaline Whore.
