My favorite Coaster debut

I remember the summer of 88 at the point. When walking by the witches wheel and seeing a sign posted next to it saying "coming next summer the world's tallest fastest and steepestest rollercoaster. From that point on I was pumped. flash to 89, I remember seeing Magnum for the first time. I starred in disbelief at the first hill. It looked sureal as if someone painted it there. My heart instantly started to beat faster and faster I made my way thru the quere. As my father and I made our to the platform, I thought oh S***. I totally, played it off that I wasn't scared. AS the train ascended up the lift hill I looked back at the park thinking it's a long way down. The minute it took to reach the top seemed like an eternity of torture. As the train plummeted over the first hill I felt as though the train would never reach the bottom. Than up two the second hill thinking " I can't beleive this hill is taller than Gemini" than onto the first tunnel and out to the pretzel knot turn around ( at the time the coolest turn around ever) back to all those bunny hills and tunnels with the lighting effects and fog machines. It was such a great experience. The only other coming remotely close is when Raptor opened. I'm looking foward to riding TTD. But, I don't think that any coaster before or after magnum will ever replace that rush.

The first time I saw Mr. Freeze's vertical tower, I said " oh ****!" The scariest moment I ever had was going up the first vertical tower( because it was my first coaster I rode with a vertical tower). Some vertical towers still scare me like V2's vertical tower.

the first time I rode Medusa. I rode coasters kennywood coasters b4 that, so anything like that was good to me. I thought it was unridable when I saw how the tain was. I thought please don't let my feet get cut off.
Seeing a short clip of Steel Phantom on TV in 1992 is what made me a real coaster enthusiast.

Being in high school, I couldn't just take off for Pittsburgh, but two friends and I convinced our youth minister to drive us there. We waited for 4 hours because of breakdowns, but we were on the first train of the day in the front seat.

Shortly thereafter, we saw another clip of Batman the Ride on TV, and again we convinced the minister to take us to Chicago, only he took the whole youth group this time. After my second B:TR ride, front seat in the dark, is probably the happiest and most satisfied I've been after a roller coaster ride.
