My CP Pilgrimage (5/26)

Associated parks:
None

I hope to make it my mission to visit this park every year. After getting lost, ticketed for speeding, and being scared crapless at the storm we were driving through, we made it to the Radisson. We had an early night since we wanted to be the first ones at the park when the gates opened. I wanted to see if this "releasing of the bulls" or whatever its callled is really true. Well the gates opened and everybody either made a mad dash for wicked twister or the force. I went for the twister, and waited all of 10 mins. That line seriously moved. Now granted it was about three times as long as V2 has ever been, and the waited was a lot shorter. The ride itself was fun, and I rode in the back like many suggested. I wasn't expecting the curling on the back spike so that took me off guard. The verdict: I give it 8/10....still prefer V2 with/without the holding brake. I didn't get that dizzy feeling like many expressed. That straight drop on V2 made all the difference.

Anyway, our next ride was Raptor. The line was pretty long but it moved fast. We rode in the back since that is rumored to be the best seat. It was definitely a good ride. But that turn into the station is a killer. I was about to applaud when the restraints sucka punched the daylights outa me. Raptor is now officially "on my list" Nice paint job though!! Our next ride was Blue Streak. Now my wussy friends hate wooden coasters..."ooh its too rough" But they sure loved this one. This lil' bad boy was non stop speed and air. Also was the shortest line in the park at the time. The verdict: 8.5/10.

Our next ride was Power Tower. I persuaded my friends that the blast down was better. It was a cool ride. But I didn't do my Mariah Carey scream so I guess it wasn't as scary as Drop Zone. After this we went on Mantis. If I remember correctly this was one of the more intense standups. They were only running two trains so the line went slower than usual. The ride itself was eh, compared to my last ride in 2000. It was hella rough, plus that trim on the first drop was on really hard. Even my friends (who are dumb as a bag of leaves when it comes to coasters) felt it. I give it a 7/10....still really unpredictable and fun but .....ouch.

We then went to eat at Midway Market. And yes Steph was right....the food was greasy. I had salad though, and the Ice Cream was really good. My friends couldn't get enough of the carved roast Next on our list was Gemini. The line went crazy fast even though there were only two trains per side at the time. The station was a bit crowded though. We felt like a herd of cows waiting for a collie to give us directions. The ride was ok....a lil bumpy. But that last helix was a fun surprise. I give it also a 7/10. Then we went to Magnum. I told my whiney friends to expect major jerkations so I want no complaining when the ride was over. Much to my surprise, they enjoyed this ride while I suffered pain from drop to brake run. The fun part for them was laughing at me while I being tossed around in the seat behind them. I wish I rode this ride in the days of its glory. I give it a 7 only because I don't want to be tarred and feathered by Magnum loyalists.

We then went to Millennium Force becuase they were getting tired (drat) The line was hella long.......atleast it moved. We were doing crazy things in line just to pass the time off. I persuaded them to wait for the front becuase it was definitely worth it. The ride was phenomenal. I never rode in the front before so it was definitely an adrenaline rush. The guys liked it too ...and all hints of tiredness went away becuase they wanted to ride it again. I told them we should go on Mean Streak and then we can come back later for a night ride. Mean Streak was surely a looker. I like how the queue was enveloped by the coaster. I took alot of pix...especially since the sun was setting...yum!!! The ride was not bad at all. I was expecting the worst coaster....but it was actually rideable. (now remember Great Adventure is my "homepark" so any form of wood is good).

By this time it was about 8:00, and two of my friends opted not to make a second ride on MF. I as mad....but in order to keep some semblance of peace I decided to take them back to the hotel. We had dinner at Fridays.....and that was the end of our day. All in all I had fun. But I am looking forward to going on trips with my new coaster gal. (I found a new gal who likes coasters as much as I do which is really (really) hard to find) I love my friends and all ......but it seems like they are outgrowing coasters and I am forcing them to make trips with me. . Anyway....Cedar Point is definitely the best Amusement Park (But Great Adventure is my fav. for sentimental purposes). Later...
