Mudslide blocks road into Ghost Town

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

A mudslide earlier this month threatened several homes and displaced more than 40 residents near the edge of Ghost Town in the Sky. Heavy accumulation of snow and ice from recent winter storms likely triggered the collapse of a retaining wall, which sent mud and debris tumbling down onto a section of Rich Cove Road in Maggie Valley for nearly 30 minutes, according to geologists. The mudslide blocks entrance to the park.

Actually Ghost Town in the sky has filled bankruptcy again and may not fix the road.

That parks not reopenign, At least anytime soon. I doubt Freestyle does either.

Out of curiosity, does anyone have any insight as to how well..or not so well..Freestyle did in its "first" season? I had an awesome experience at HRP in '08 and it saddens me that I'll never have that again.

From what I gather based on the fact that they're still looking for investors before they can open for the season, not very well.
