Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast at Six Flags Over Texas is closing Sept. 11th

The park hasn't said that the ride is closing all together, but said it would be the last time folks could ride the "reverse blast" part. I guess this means they could just be turning the trains around, but keeping the coaster.

The wording in the park’s Facebook post suggests the ride isn’t going anywhere:

“Last chance to ride MR FREEZE: Reverse Blast is Sept 11…but do you really think it’s going away? Not a chance! Stay tuned for more…

They're going to retheme it to Bizarro and add on board music and fire. (Just kidding...I hope).

Cool. In another ten years they'll revert the name back to Mr Freeze and call it retro

It will be part of the ride rotation program. Mr. Freeze from Texas is going to Six Flags St. Louis and Mr. Freeze from Six Flags St. Louis is moving to Six Flags Over Texas. Both parks can thus claim a new ride for next year. :-)

Well they are mirror images.

As someone who rode SFOT's probably a hundred times before getting a ride on SFStL's, yes, they are completely different rides. Being so familiar with SFOT's left hand turns, the right hand turns of SFStL's completely threw me.

Trains are turning back around:

So it has been running with a reverse launch? Either way, that's too much backward stuff. I've never done well with the backward stuff, even on Boomerangs. I don't care for that part of Everest either.

Same. My younger self could take it, but even Firechaser Express didn’t sit well with me this year. And my last ride on a Boomerang a few years ago did me in for a couple hours, and it was only our second ride of the day.

I liked the reverse launch, and fortunately I’m one that doesn’t mind a little backwards if it’s done well.
I think one of the ideas here, and why it works, is the trip up the spike is spent face down. It improves the view, gives an accurate impression of the height, and adds an unexpected thrill. If the reverse blast is being un-reversed, then I’m disappointed.

That is a recently noticed part of aging. Younger me loved all of it. Current me doesn't like going in circles or backwards. Doesn't make me sick but find it unpleasant.

I have issues with braking backwards moreso than launching backwards, so to some degree I enjoyed these rides in this configuration.

I love going backwards! One of the reasons why I love LoCoSuMo so much. Also, when Batman had the backwards train from B&M, I got to try it at SFGAm and it was insane!

With Mr. Freeze, it is hard to say which I like better. Love the backwards launch, and like RCMAC said, going up the spike and looking down was really cool. But, there's something about going forward up the spike and being in the front seat and watching the end of the track get closer!
