Mountain Park reportedly burned to the ground

Posted | Contributed by blinkboy14

According to a report from WWLP/Springfield, MA, a fire broke out at the old Mountain Park in Holyoke, MA late Wednesday night. Unconfirmed reports say most of the old rides and buildings still left since the park closed more than 15 years ago have been destroyed.

What's the deal with SBNO parks being burned? Why do people think it's cool to burn these amusement parks? Remember when those stupid teens burned the ballroom at Whalom Park? Idiots. Man, this is getting me pretty mad. This is too bad for the park. You know, I'm just glad people in Ohio weren't stupid enough to burn down Americana as it sat there for a couple years. That would suck!

i wish people would rebuild and reopen the defunct parks.

Parks become defunct for a reason. More often than not, they just can't compete with the major parks like Six Flags, Paramount and possibly even Disney. The smaller parks just don't have the finances for the big rides that everyone is looking for. It's the same reason "mom & pop" grocery stores go under.

Which would you rather go to, a Six Flags w/ eight coasters or a small park w/ one? More than likely the GP will go to the SF.

Curtis, I asked myself that exact same question; Either SF with ten coasters or Conneaut Lake with one. I'm not going to tell my desicion but let's just say I'll get to see the Blue Streak's new paintjob :)
