Motocoaster opens at Dreamworld

Ahead of its September 30 public opening at the Gold Coast theme park, Dreamworld has officially unveiled their latest family roller coaster, Mick Doohan's Motocoaster.

Intamin AG is behind the roller coaster that launches riders from 0-45 mph using a hydraulic-powered kicker wheel launch. It is the first motorcycle coaster to feature full-sized 500CC replica bikes for seating. Junior riders as short as 43" can also ride accompanied on one two sidecar seats found at the rear of each train.

Roller-Coaster.com.au features all the highlights from the event including on and off ride footage from the inaugural launch.

Wow, does that video take a long time to load. Anyway, it looks like one of those fun, but not scary rides perfect for the whole family. Kind of like a junior coaster with motorcycles.

It'd be cool to see a copy or something more intense in the states.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who waited for that video.
I'd hate to see how long the hi res version took to load.
I think you've got it spot on Intamin Fan. It really is a junior coaster with motorcycles. The strange thing is Dreamworld is marketing it as a major thrill ride, which I think won't take long before people see through it. With no exaggeration, launch aside it's honestly less thrilling than a Vekoma Rollerskater.

Our server is found in Australia, so you can imagine there's a bit of distance to go. 75% of the site's traffic is domestic so it makes sense to have it here.

I've added a copy of the videos on a US server, so now down the bottom of each video page there is a link for US visitors which should be much faster.

This is the main on/off-ride footage: http://www.roller-coaster.com.au/videos.php?vid=25&location=USA

I think it looks fun. I'd like to have one here in the states.

Probably wouldn't be as cool if you weren't in motorcycle position, though.

I kind of like the layouts of the Vekomas better.

May not be huge on thrills, but looks fun; I'd queue up. :)
Wow that video does take forever to load. Anyways, I am not sure but isn't that the exact same layout as Rita: Queen of Speed?
