Motion Sickness

I find that Dramamine really helps me on flats. I don't seem to have motion sickness problems on coaster's except Medusa. For some reason, that one coaster gets to me.
I'm often get motion sickness but only on certain rides. I've been trying to figure out why I can't tolerate a tilt-a-whirl or paratrooper but have no problem with a scrambler or tea cups.

I'm usally pretty safe on coasters except for B&Ms. Those things really throw me for a loop ;)

I usually try to remember to take dramamine before visiting a park. It helps a little if I don't overdo it on certain rides.

I'm shocked to find out so many of you take medicine, drugs & use weird devices to keep riding.
I find it even more surprising when I talk to a bunch of enthusiasts with a fear of heights! I don't know why... maybe its like a NASCAR driver having a fear of high speeds?

Oh, I have a fear of heights! Its weird, I don't like heights, but I feel save and secure in a coaster car, so thats what gets me around it. I'm also afraid of the dark, but love to be scared and love dark rides...go figure!

The best thing I figured out was to go to a park with a full stomach, but full on breads and things that soak up the acids. I then pop some Ginger pills (with water, no soda, which I avoid during the day), and make sure to eat and take my Ginger every 3 or so hours. It may only be a mental thing, but it will help me not to hurl on andybody next time I ride Vortex...;)

I guess I'm among the few that think a walk to the top of a lift hill would make a great birthday gift?

Rob, I will go to the top of a lift hill! Sweet!

Clint, now I am questioning whether I should ride a coaster with you or not......;-) Just messin' with ya.

Na, I have ZERO fear of heights (I LUST heights!) but I get VERY claustrophobic.

Just looking at the Toboggan at Lakemont Park made me feel nervous, and it wasn't even running that day. lol.

When I go to any park I usually pop a few Advil to help take away any headbanging I might receive, in addition to drinking LOTS of water.

Other than that I am fine.

It's weird, I'm afraid of heights, thats the thing I don't like about Drop Zones, being up at the top of the tower. But I still ride coasters, want to bungie jump. Have done a Sky Coaster and loved it, do drop towers, and want to Sky Dive.

I guess I'm just weird like that. Get me up on a ladder, though, and I'm holding on for dear life. Its also kind of hard to stand at tbe top of the Eiffel Twins @ PKI and PKD. Go figure...

Count me in for an intense fear of heights. The lift hill is the scariest part of a coaster for me and I always have the repulsive thought of having to be evacuated down the lift hill in the back of my mind.

Ferris wheels make me really nervous and I won't even go near a drop ride (yeah I tried one once and it was not a pleasant experience!)

I'm the kind of nut that would get some kind of thrill out of being walked down a lift hill. I'd actually be the idiot walking UP the lift hill instead of DOWN. Its funny... whenever the train stalls on the lift hill, all the people around me start panicking as they wonder if the coaster will EVER run again while I keep wishing that, just for once, the coaster refuses to start and I have to hike down the stairs.

Does anyone have any solutions for getting rid of motion sickness?

Stop moving? *ba da bing!*

I'm with Clint though - ginger is fantastic for controlling motion sickness.

I've always been fine with coasters and spin and spews (no, Tina, I'm still not doing Delirium!) but swinging rides like pirate ships and simple circle rides like paratroopers are the death blow to my day if I ride them - seems like the simpler the motion the more ill I feel.

*edit to pop a couple of examples in:)*

Jim, I said the exact same thing about Delirium as you, and when I actually saw the thing in motion, it made it even worse. Funny thing, though, is that Danny told me he felt the same way before he rode it, and now he loves it. I have to concur, it is the BEST flat ride I've ever been on! It didn't make me sick, didn't really scare me, but was loads of fun!

Oh Jim WILL be riding Delirium, trust me. ;-)

But it does the TWO things that make me sick - it swings and it goes around in a circle. look out PKI - barforama:(
