the only exceptions i can think of at the moment are intamin megaloopers like colossus at thorpe park and monte makaya. something to do with train design perhaps?

I don't think the direction of the loop has anything to do with anything. If I remember correctly (and I usually don't) the Orient Express has a loop that goes to the left. The fact that "left" loops are an option on RCT also tells me that the direction means nothing.

Here's a really perplexing one,has anyone ever noticed that on a standard boomerang shuttle coaster the vertical loop is going to the left while on the invertigo the loop goes to the right?
Since both rides were designed by the same company I often wonder why they chose that configuration for one and not the other.
