Most UN-impressive looking park from the outside.

I can't think about an amusement park that doesn't look great from the outside.

SFMM looks great with Superman and Goliath sticking out of the horizon...it is just kool

Like I said,I can't think of any parks that don't look good from outside

I have to agree with ravenguy98 about SFStL.  Because it sits at the bottom of those hills, you can essentially see the whole park, especially Mr. Freeze and the ferris wheel, which just lends a carnival-type look to the place.  But I think it's impressive enough once you're inside.

But I hear you, Jon-Michael.  Most parks look impressive from the outside.  The first time I passed by SFMM last year coming up from L.A., I was blown away by how huge and surreal Superman and Goliath looked.

I'll always be partial to SFGAm, though, driving up from the south.  The Eagle just looks magnificent as you first pass it on the highway, and Shock Wave looks like a tangled mess of looping steel when you enter the access road to the park.

What about SDC?  You can't see the park from the highway, you can't see it from the parking lot, and even once you are in the park you can't see it!  I love how they hide all the rides they have so it won't impose upon the midway sites.  Great, great park!

Disneyland! It looks so un-impressive from the outside of the park. It also sounds un-impresive. No screaming you can't hear any rides, nothing! Its's also un-impressive from the backstage part of the park. Every year I went there with my school band we had to get ready to perform in the backstage area, and it was un-impressive from the backstage area.
the worst has to be william's grove in pa. you have to park on the grass and all you can see is old freight trains. at least the entrace i went in (10 yrs ago).
Williams Grove is downright hard to find.  Even after you park, you practically have to ask directions.  (Kind of behind the storage shed, through the woods and across the little wooden bridge.

Some other parks life SFA are set so far back that they simply can't be seen from the highway, though they look pretty good from the parking lot.

Dorney Park without a question, because some of the park is set into a steep hillside. Things have improved though since the addition of Talon.

I was going to say Williams' Grove, but it's not much better once you're inside ;)

(Don't take that the wrong way -- the place IS fun, and worth a stop, but it really isn't much to look at...)

Coasterray,I have ridden the Coaster Thrill Ride  at Puyallup,WA.This is a great family coaster. Not as much airtime as the PNE Coaster, but some nice pops every now and then. This is a good coaster for coaster virgins as it is a lot of fun and not very scary at all. This is the closest woodie to Portland,OR about 2 1/2 hours from my home.Too bad we can only ride it when the fair is open....arrgh!The Prior & Church trains came from the long defunct Happyland Dipper(1925-1947)in Vancouver,BC.I would love to go to Arnolds' Park, but right now that would be a bit of a stretch for me,living in Portland,OR and being an ordinary working class mortal, but maybe in the future.I would love to go to Cedar Point some day before I get too old to ride Millenium Force( I'm 43)and would do Arnolds' Park if it is in reasonable driving distance from CP.Coasteray ,please e-mail me,there is no e-mail address in your C-buzz profile.
Like others have said, I haven't been to a park with a skyline I didn't like. But from what SFEG has, it seems like it might have a pretty bad skyline.
Coasteray, nasai and I (others also) were discussing Coaster Thrill Ride earlier this season.  It's a shame it only runs a few weeks a year.  It has insane ejector-air-time.  My petite wife was on her way out of the train on one of the amazing drops.  I literally had to grab her and pull her back in....crazy!

mmmmmmmmm.....coasters
SFEG does look horrible, just for looking into it you can tell that the coasters are pretty bad.  It is so condensed and yet they still have little room and no rides.  The only good thing about the park is that it is next to a highway, or that is good for SFEG at least, because it sorta gives the "classic park" look that you see on your way to work everyday.  Lakeside looks bad from the outside also, but it has a great location next to both a highway and a lake, but it looks run-down. But from the inside at night this park is really great.  But I still choose this park over SFEG anyday.
I like the way SFEG is right in the city. The only bad thing is that they don't have much room. I like Lakeside too. Seeing the Cyclone right next to the road is fun.

What I don't understand is Dorney Park. How could you say that is un-impressive? I could see the entire park from the highway!

GO CU! Big 12 Champs!

I thought that all of the rides at Busch Williamsburg were pretty well hidden by the beautiful trees, maybe I was coming from a bad angle?

i'm not shure if any of you guys have heard of this park( Downunderland Amusement Park, Canberra, Australia) but this place is a dump. and it even looks worse from the road beside it..there are no trees surrounding it so you can see all the not so good rides in the park.
Actually Craig, Apollo's Chariot sticks out like a sore thumb at BGW since the addition of the new entrance. But what a way to enter a park.

Some have said SFStL...  OK.  Not many big rides, but I think it's kind of a neat scene with the hills in the background.  Kind of makes the rides glow.  Especially when there is a little bit of a haze, or the sun's trying to peak through, or when you're riding past on Amtrak in the afternoon...  :)

I wish SFGAm would get rid of the birms, and that the Illinois Tollway would put a "Gawker's Lane" into the highway so those of us that like to drive past really slow can do it without getting run over by someone who doesn't really care!

UnImpressive?  Well, I haven't been to EVERY park in this country, but I wasn't too impressed with BGT from the outside.  Too many buildings/trees to make a good impact.  ValleyFair as well.  It's getting better, but a way to go!

For the coolest looking parks I would have to say:

Cedar Point: Even for being about 15 minutes away from the park you can still see Millennium Force which looks like a phantom, and then all the others appear.

Michigan's Adventure: As you drive by the parking lot, all you can see is a mountain of wood.

Six Flags Worlds of Adventure: As already posted, you drive up a slight hill, then all of a sudden you can see two red towers sticking up in the distance.

As for most UN-impressive, I can barely even remember it, but I would have to say Marineland, Canada.

Coney Island in Brooklyn....ACK

Not a park, but Raven at Holiday World looks totally unimpressive from the parking lot.
