I say Scream. It was never hyped, IMO it is NOT a good coaster, and it was placed in a parking lot!
Please share your opinions.
I actually enjoyed this coaster as I do most B&M's.
The fact that it wasn't hyped or sitting on a parking lot doesn't make it pointless.
Chalk those 2 factors into the previous SF management team. Not the coaster itself.
My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.
But I think it wins the title of the most "pointless new attraction" not because it's a bad roller coaster (because that's entirely subjective, I personally really enjoy it) nor because it was placed in the former employee parking lot.
It was pointless as a new attraction because the park really did not "need" a huge new roller coaster that year. The park was still riding the heavy momentum off of X's opening from the previous season. The $15-some million spent on Scream! did not drive attendance as a capital expenditure is intended to do.
Secondly, Scream! was (and is) so incredibly similar to The Riddler's Revenge and Viper and offered no significantly different ride experience. It was just another big multi-inversion roller coaster.
And when you open a ride like X with rotating seats, the year before, the whole Floorless gimmick of Scream! really felt like taking a step down.

Kennywood removing the cool flat, Huss Swingaround, for a high diving tower... or just plain removing the platform that once housed the long bullet shaped airplanes that swung over the lake, for that matter.:(
It's my understanding that the park wanted to rebuild the stage due to structural issues. I can't remember exactly what their reasoning was.
