Most defunct coasters you've ridden?

I can only think of a few. . .

Screechin' Eagle - Americana/Lesourdsville Lake (but I'm not ready to give up on this one yet)

Galaxy - Americana/Lesourdsville Lake (but I'm not ready to give up on this one yet)

Lightin' Loops - Great Adventure (does this count as two? Is it really defunct or has it been relocated?)

Comet Jr. - Nay Aug Park (has anybody else ridden this? It was like the Camden Park Lil Dipper).

Hercules - Dorney Park

I think there's a couple kiddie ovals too. Did Magic Valley (PA) have a kiddie coaster?

millrace: I counted Lightning Loops as defunct because one of the coasters that made up LL is defunct (the other is at Frontier City, I believe). Since I'm not sure what side I rode (and because one of the charms of LL- two trains going through the interlocked loops at once- will never be experienced again), I call it a defunct ride.

Fair enough. I remember I always rode the same side. In fact, I don't think I ever saw the other side open. It's a pity because I always wanted to ride it with another train in the loop.

I don't remember if the side I rode was the higher or lower loop. I think it was the one with the entrance that most directly faced the midway (if that makes sense).

It was certainly the coaster that involved the most exercise!

I can't remember which side operated during the last few years... I thought it was the lower side, but my memory sucks at times! It was an aerobic workout, that's for sure. And, from what I recall, a pretty lousy ride.

I liked the ride - it was my first looping coaster. :)

I think it was my second, right after Hershey's sooperdooperlooper. I remember it being very short, which may have contributed to my less-than-positive impression of the ride.

Lemmee see here...

Geauga Lake's Corkscrew

White Swan Park's Galaxi and Wild Mouse, although I think those two are in Altoona these days

Tidal Wave at Marriott's Great America (CA)

Hercules at Dorney

Steel Phantom, Laser Loop, and Lil Dipper at Kennywood

Drachen Fire at BGW

Space Mountain at Disneyland (they're putting in a whole new coaster there, right?)

Hmmm.... 10. Possibly 8 depending on how you count it.

(Of course, that total could go up quickly should CLP not open this year...)

I rode Hercules 5 times it was awesome this year

TrekkerPark...according to RCDB, Kennywood's Laser Loop has been relocated to La Feria Chapultepec Mexico as Cascabel and is still operating. Hmmm wonder what Cascabel translates as.

Nashville needs a theme park!

Best I could find.

cascabel

\Cas"ca*bel\, n. [Sp. cascabel a little bell, also (fr. the shape), a knob at the breech end of a cannon.] The projection in rear of the breech of a cannon, usually a knob or breeching loop connected with the gun by a neck. In old writers it included all in rear of the base ring.

Riverview Mike, thanks for the comparo, do you remember which of the Riverview coasters was claimed to do 100 mph? Was it Greyhound, Flash or Fireball? Did it seem that fast to you? ;)

Rctycoon2k, I stand by my word, I have never ridden a defunct coaster though I may have ridden coasters which became defunct sometime after I had ridden them. 8^P

I would like to ride a few defunct coasters, Cyclone Racer and Crystal Beach Cyclone come to mind.

Boblogone , that is the definition of riding a defunct coaster. Otherwise , nobody would've ridden anything defunct.

>sarcastic< All I gotta say is, you all are BAD LUCK to operating coasters.

Was the Arrow coaster from Luna Park in Sydney, Australia, reloacated or scrapped?

In 1959 Riverview reprofiled the Blue Streak into the Fireball. They removed the first double dip and replaced it with a much steeper drop that went into a tunnel 10 feet underground. Back in those days coasters were even more overhyped than today. The Fireball was advertised as 100mph. In reality the speed was more likely 55-65mph. Yes it was fast, but nothing like the steel megacoasters of today.

I wish I had ridden shockwave, orient express, drachen fire, HURCULES, and the many others, just didn't get time to get around to them. Damn the parks! Guess ill just have to wait 'till a time machine is invent!

CPLady, according to RCDB Sky Streak was relocated and renamed to Mexico, it was my first 'big' coaster its opening year and might have been my last if not for my dad's goading in 1976.

tpmod, could you share the sign with rct2k? :)

Well... let's see. In Seattle, we had a Galaxi, and before that we had a Monster Mouse, but I think they relocated the Monster Mouse to the Puyallap Fair... I was five... I have no idea where the Galaxi got to...

I REALLY wish I had gone to WoF last September, I was on business in Omaha, and could have driven to Kansas City... doh!

Rode the Willard's Whizzer and Tidal Wave at Marriot's California. I guess the Tidal Wave is in storage somewhere...

Rode Soapbox Racers at KBF - Tried three times to ride Windjammer, but what do you know, it was closed. Matter of fact, Soapbox racers used to have Motorcycle cars, so I got to ride it in both its incarnations.

I think that's all... not many, but then, I don't get off the coast much.
