There hasn't been a lot of white track showing up lately. What is there like 2 or 3 pieces?
One of theories out there is that, assuming this ride has a 'dragster'esque theme, the white track is part of a finish line or something. This is based on nothing but the fact that the white/tan supports are similar to the ones used on Xcel's brake run.

This reminds me. When is Cedar Point going to start VERTICAL construction? The announcement at www.cedarpoint.com and www.cedarfair.com/index2.cfm both stat that they are going to start construction shortly after labor day, and an announcement will be made later this year. I'm looking forward to the announcemnets of serveral different parks. This season is the most exciting [new coaster announcments], and most dreadful [ coasters close for us notherners :-(]
tell me if I'm wrong, but I wonder if this beast is going to make enough noise that they need bigger insolator pads (aka those steel plates)?

Also remember the track and supports were filled with sand in the case of Xcelerator. Cedar Point doesnt lie close to a residential area so they shouldnt have the sounds issues Knotts had.
When you are underneath XC, you can really see those shock absorbers go to work. The compress about a foot or so along the overbanks. I dont think they are to damper sound more as much as they are to absorb the huge amount of shock the trains are giving off in those turns.

Long live Six Flags Astroworld!! Ok, you can all laugh now...

You want to know what Millenium Force is on a scale from 1-10? Oh, that's easy. A bajillion out of ten.
Back to the track, wouldn't make since if the coaster parts that are there would fit together if construction starts soon and that being the only parts spotted at the park at this time.
I was there in July, and didn't even notice a clearing for a new ride (not that i was really looking).
Just wondering. This thing will no doubt be a new #1 coaster! God bless you, Cedar Point.

How much more floorless can they get?
Sandusky, OH -- Cedar Fair announced today plans to build a major new thrill ride at Cedar Point for the 2003 season. Parts for a new roller coaster have begun to arrive at Cedar Point and construction is scheduled to being after Labor Day.
"I was just wondering why people started thinking that this ride was going to be (etre) something like Xcelerator, the track is the same as any other intamin track. Is it because it was bought by the same company or something?" I was just curious.
According to the survey results, Cedar Fair parks boast five of the top 25 steel roller coasters in the world, with Cedar Point's Millennium Force earning top honors for a second year in a row!
Actually, The Xcelerator pieces were shipped last May to a warehouse in the Long Beach area. It sat there until the city of Buena Park officially approved the new coaster. Once it was approved, then they started shipping the pieces to the park area.
Anyways, by all the work in the area 51 location, I would DEFINITELY say construction has already begun :) I would say seeing footers is definitely a sign of something being constructed ;)

Those pics were okay. I wouldn't waste my time taking them again though, they could be better taken by someone else.

-*Coaster Count 178 #1 MF, #2 SROS (SFDL), #3 Kumba, DOMINATED by Intamin (and an older B&M)*-
If you look, there are a lot of things that point out that this will be a launched Hydro-Rocket coaster.
1)- The tan supports, all congruent in size, are the exact same supports used for Xcelerators launch track, seen in this pic. http://americacoasters.com/Photos/KBF/04-new.htm
2 )- The taller tan supports are the same as the ones used for Xcelerators magnetic brake run, as seen in this pic.
http://americacoasters.com/Photos/KBF/28-new.htm
3)- All of the gently sweeping curves of the track suggests long pullouts, and the supports show overbanked turns. Both of these fit the profile of a Launched, Xcelerator-style Tera coaster.
