I'm really surprised with a couple of the responses to the Mean Streak post below.
In particular, Craig the Coaster Freak. Craig, you said the Mean Streak was "great" and then immediately said that the only good part of MS is "the first drop" and that MS has "nothing memorable". Since when does a coaster that has only one good part and has nothing memorable "great"?!
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and that is good. Still, nearly everyone I have talked to that likes MS has limited experience on woodies. IMO Mean Streak is the most beautiful looking pile of crap ever built. What a waste of good lumber. Why you say?
First, MS is certainly not rough. It shakes a little, which is good in a woody. But MS has MANY flaws that would cause me to bash any woody at any park. The first drop is good, but one part of a ride is not enough to make it even just good if the rest of the ride stinks.
MS has no sense of pacing. This is key to any good coaster. MS speeds up, slows down, speeds up, slows down. Yes, this is because of breaks, but MS never really ripped through it's course to begin with. Some slow downs are to be expected, but MS never feels fluid at all.
Secondly, MS delivers NO significant forces whatsoever. It has minimal to no airtime. It has minimal to no laterals, and delivers minimal positive g's. Wood or steel, any coaster with no "balls" is lame. It's supposed to be a thrill ride, not a ride in the park. The term white knuckle coined back in the 1910's and 20's has lost it's meaning in many cases today.
Finally, CP does a lousy job maintaining this ride. They should call it Mean Screech. Lube those tracks! KW does this all the time. Maintain the trains =- paticularly the wheels.
MS is a target because many people go to CP and are familiar with MS. Also, CP chased afte world records with MS. They should have chased after quality instead of stupid numbers with MS. AHHHH YES!! The memories. I'll never forget the squealing around every turn. I think MS would be great if they got rid of the trims on the first drop. I do think it regains momentem after the mid course though.

I rode Mean Streak when I visted Cedar Point this year for the first time. The coaster was bad, providing no excitment or airtime & I'd call it Weak Streak. However, I did like the length of this coaster. I've rode other coasters, such as the Thunderbolt, Jack Rabbit, and Racer and those coasters provide for a much better experience and airtime.
