More fun for SFDL in 06 ?

Not that I wan't get my hopes to high up in the air just, thought some may find this interesting to hear. I just got my season pass renewal letter in the mail yesterday and in the letter it states

"Look for an exciting announcement about more fun in Spring 2006"

I've heard some things from people I know that work at the park, more or less Ive been hearing just water park improvments (slides and what not) if anything, so far this seems "kinda" a little more believable from seeing this in the letter. I know all we can do is wait and see if the park release's any further info in due time, but its almost sureal to think from a buffaloians point of view, that the park may actually get some sort of addition 2 years in a row. haha.

"the only thing I know is that life is short and the only time you've got left is luck"
Looks like we will be sliding down the tube of laughter eh Dan. :-)

I believe the other folks will gasp for air coming up.

Nice to here

Can't wait

This is my closet SF park. Good to here.I know DL isn't getting a new coaster but it's been six years since DL got a new coaster and when they finally do, I will scream, yalp, hollar all the way to the park. *** Edited 11/23/2005 5:45:37 PM UTC by CoasterDiscern***

I honestly wouldn't hold your breath, with a statement like that on their renewal, it leaves it very vague and doesn't even give you a hint upon what to expect.

Nothing like:
"We're going to turn your stomach in new ways this summer" or
"Get ready, you're going to wet yourself next year" or "Next spring, get ready for a rush of new excitement"

Nope... instead it's an exciting announcement about more fun...
> Could be extended hours.
> Could be a new show.
> Could be some new clowns dancing around.
> Could be decorating the park with balloons now.

I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I agree with Dawg, With the sale of things looming and executives being tossed I Highly doubt they are even planning much else.
If you dont see anything come from huston, then were sure not getting anything. I went by there a few days ago and there was NOTHING in the parking lot
Don't waist your time, It's like some popular people on radio talk shows say about Erie County- "If you dont like it the way to change it is vote new people into office or just leave with your feet."
I don't understand why they are holding back on one of the original Premier parks that helped them buy the SF brand. I just wonder how much differnt things would be today if CF picked up the funtime frachise years ago?!
I'd imagine that if we don't get a coaster at least from Astroworld by like '07....the park will leave the chain. It would be so sad to see that park do what Astroworld did, but i'd imagine someone else would buy it. I wish it was paramount, as they are the only chain that TRULY distributes rides evenly, and all of their parks look great. (Well, i've only been to two, but they were great.) I realize, however, that this would never happen, especially with Canada's Wonderland being right there.

I bet if Cedar Fair picked up Darien, it would be in the same boat as Valleyfair! and Worlds of Fun, which are not better than Darien by any means. At least they do get new coasters though....

We'll I would have to agree with you three. I should not get so worked up over nothing. I would hope your telling the truth about an empty parking lot but it might be to early as well. I don't think Darien Lake would turn into a SFAW when they have the on of three amazing superman ride. That ride is the whole reason I go every year. I think a new addition to the park would give it more strength and promise for the future. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to company politics and the buisness side of building new coasters. Why would it take so long for a new ride. Is it becasue a company like B&M are already contracted out for other parks. Does Darien not have the money or funds. I think Darien is in need of a new ride and I would love to know where they stand as of right now and in the near future.

The park is profitable... but only by means of their other methods of business.

If the park was just a park out in the sticks like it is, then it would easily have shut down or been sold during Six Flags tenure.
Darien Lake obtains a lot of their business from the fact that they got the on-site hotel, the decent campground and especially... the concert venue. I'm not saying they're a cash cow... certainly not. BUT... those three things is what keeps the park afloat.

The park SHOULD be able to stand alone, but I'd be willing to bet it wouldn't have a chance if those three things didn't exist... based upon current attendance, the market they're in, and how they're way out in the sticks.

...This is my closet SF park...

...Don't waist your time...

... Nice to here...

Is there any wonder why I love this place so? :)
