Montezooma cleared to reopen after death

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Knott's Berry Farm's Montezooma's Revenge reopened yesterday after being cleared of any mechanical problems that may have caused a rider to die from an aneurysm last weekend.

Good. That takes the heat off the ride and Cedar Fair.
One Schwarzkopf removed, one Schwarzkopf re-opened. Anton is rolling in his grave.

I agree with arrow, plus I am laughing at that statement (For what reason, I don't know). I love Montezooma's Revenge, especially if you're lucky enough to hit the loop as a Jaguar train passes through it. It's a cool picture opportunity, plus it's funny because if you're dumb enough to do it, you can spit upside down on the loop and hit someone on the Jaguar train. I've seen it happen, and in fact, my friend did it. It was hilarious. Gotta love it. A 70 foot loop is big one compared to many others, if I do say so myself. I'm all smiles here!
Question: Why was Goliath a factor in an earlier case, but Montezooma isn't a factor in this case? Different coroner? Because Monetzooma isn't really tall and scary? I don't get it.

To answer that question, there were a lot of factors. 1 - the elevation of the park itself. 2 - the speed of Goliath. 3 - the g forces pulled on Goliath compared to Montezooma's Revenge, as well as others.
I've heard several investigators talking about the implemation of OTSR on Monty, if this happens, what is the reaction from all of you?
If OSTR were added to Monte, a classic ride would be ruined...  I doubt KBF would add them though.

Very true Knott's may not add them, but they may be required to, then mayhem would result. So let's see what happens.
Sexy choice people!
My Monte' is open!

since someone died in a car crash in a honda, does that mean that ALL hondas are not safe and should be destroyed????

people just don't seem to get how dangerous EVERYTHING is! not just coasters!

ride on my friends

Yep, I'm sure OTSRs would REALLY lower the amount of deaths caused by this mass killer(end sarcasm).  I agree with Rideman.
I went on Monte today! (22nd Time)
They won't put OTSRs on Montezoomas Revenge- at least not until Magnum sinks. :)
These two ideas are very much in the same category!

i think its because Goliath has only been open for a year while Monty has been open for at least 20 years with no problems
oh and if they put OTSRs on this ride im going to kill someone *** This post was edited by Wackokid on 9/8/2001. ***
I am against OSTRs but on Monty would they really detract from the ride that much? OSTRs bother me in turns and Monty has none.

Having that been said - No OSTRs on Monty please!

I will be very mad at KBF if they decide to add OTSRs on Montezooma's Revenge, because, like someone said earlier, it would completely ruin the ride, but it wouldn't stop me from spitting while I was upside down! Hehe.
WEll, All I really have to say is...People...Read the "warning signs" before you ride. I mean, obviously the park puts those signs up for a reason, and it's definatly NOT for decoration. If you know what I mean. I understand, the victum may not have known they had a heart problem or whatever, but unless there was a malfunction in the ride, they won't get anything from the park. But, that's probably why they had to close Montazooma in the first place. Just incase it was the ride malfuntioning. To insure no one else would be ingured...

But then that brings up the issue of, why didn't anyone else suffer from an aneurysm or another kind of ingury. But that goes around to the fact that they have to take the "proper" safety procautions. So whatever.

As long as it is reopend and out of the clear of any trouble. hehe.

As for the OTSR...thumbs down here. I love the lap bars. What would be the purpose of that? I mean, it just has ONE vertical loop...Batman and Robin the Chiller at Six Flags Great Adventure in NJ just got Lap Bars because of roughness (they had OTSR) . The Robin track has a cobra roll and inline twist , and on the Batman track, a top hat loop and inline twist. If they can have the lap bar, so can Monty.

Well, enough of my ranting and raving. I'll always love the ride no matter what they do to it...Just don't demolish it! (I'm mad they are demolishing Viper- another Shwartzkopf shuttle looper at 6FoG).

LikeI mentioned before there is a lot more to this case, hence the fake name from family member and other aspects which will come out on this bizzare case...
