Well, as attractive and fun as these new flat rides are, they are extremely complex and require lots of maintainence many parks want to avoid.

In my opinion, Power Surge is an excellent ride that offers up an intense ride experience without being nauseating. Yes, it's not for everyone.... some people don't like hanging against the restraint for an extended period of time. I too wish there were more of these in our area.

I have never been on a Huss Frisbee and sincerely hope SFWoA or CP were to consider one for their ride line up. I have heard nothing but good things about this wicked-looking ride, and the one coming to PCW looks simply insane.

I checked out KMG's website recently and they have some really crazy-looking rides. I'd love to see some of these show up over here, but as one of the posters above mentioned, they may be "too extreme" for the park-going crowds. And speaking of extreme, Zamperla's Energy Storm is another one that I'd like to try.... but I have yet to see one in person. Spinning upside-down for much of the ride cycle looks absolutely sick!

CoasterFanMatt The Iron Eagle @ SFA is a Zamperla Roto Shake. It is one of the standard versions with the red, silver and blue paint scheme.Basically the same as the one @ KBF.except for the paint scheme.Just look for it on the Zamperla website.

Man...I wish y'all would post links to pics of all these rides like CoasterFanMatt did. I usually pass on these rides 'cept when the girl wants to try one out. But now you're getting me interested in them and I'd like to check them out.

Oh, I guess I can surch around the net and find them...what was that?...an inverted frisbee troika model with surging husses /spinning top? I'll look into it!

a) The Wild Claw by KMG is now known as After Burner b) Justin, PCW seems to be the only Paramount park that gets decent flats. By the way, they're not getting a Frisbee, they're getting a Giant Frisbee with seats that face outwards! c) ProgRay, check out Reithoffer Shows website, and check on their fair list. If the orange unit is coming near you, they have a Zamperla Engergy Storm! I just rode it last night in Frederick MD and it's truly awesome.

I know we Ohioans have it pretty good when it comes to coasters, but I would gladly take a year where the big three all got some of the new flats instead of new coasters. I've been able to sample some of the wild contraptions from Huss, Zamperla, and KMG at parks in other states, and I must say, I can't wait to ride them again.

Count me in on the "swinging pendulum" bandwagon. I've tried a Huss Frisbee and a KMG Afterburner, and they are they two best flat rides I've ever ridden. I would be estatic if one of the Ohio parks announced the addition of either of these, especially one of the "giant" frisbees.

Personally, I don't think many of the flats out there today are too fun, and the few that are fun are usually overabundant. I enjoy older rides, Especially Monster's & Calypso's by Anton Schwarzkopf.

Please God, can't PKD have more flat rides other than Bezerker, Scrambler, and Flying Eagles!?

I thought ALL enterprises had no restraints, Steve O? The one at the state fair didn't, and the one at Carowinds dosn't have any either. I agree that it's fun to go upside down with nothing restraining you but the car. I've also heard that there are stand up enterprises. Can someone show me a pic of this?
I'm surprised of the nymber of people thet have ridden a KMG spin-out. Those things are awsome! Spinning around, upside down is very disorienting. I could bearly walk after getting off. Every park should have one. And a "Starship 2000" too.

LNM Fanatic- I think the "stand-up Enterprise" you are referring to is a Huss UFO. Here's a link to the Huss webpage that shows a picture and gives a detailed description:
http://www.hussrides.com/519ClassicUFO.htm
You don't go upside-down on this. It's more like a giant Round-Up than anything. But to be honest, it's a pretty freaky ride as there
are no real restraints. You just step into the cabin and hold on. The centrifugal force does its job of holding you in. Examples
of this can be found at Six Flags Darien Lake and Paramount Canada's Wonderland.

You're right, none of them do.

Some company(i'm not sure which)makes an enterprise that you lie face down on. If i'm not mistaking I think that one of the six flags parks has one.

Yep, you can find one at SFNE called Nightwing. It's a Huss Fly-Away. It's a fun ride, but it's not for the claustrophobic.

I think more parks should get those 250' Swinging Ships and one of those Inverters.

YES! Here in Houston, we have much better flat rides on the rodeo midway every year than we do at AstroWorld, which seems very strange, considering that the rodeo midway is always directly across the street from the park! How sad that amusement park flat rides are being upstaged by cowboy carnivals these days. What on Earth is the world coming to?

I would love to see carowinds restock thier flat ride inventory. This past year they  removed thier wave swinger,  for what you ask  another free flat ride,no  another pay per experience attraction, which I have never seen anyone do. Wise investment there carowinds. This park almost has more pay per experience attractions than rides   and thats after almost 40$ to get in and 7$ for the joy of parking in thier lot and walking to the gate

the swinger was moved to pga. Why they couldnt buy one of thier own is beyond me. They could've gotten one of those new super wave swingers.I think they are called flying carousels

another thing that pisses me off is when new parks open with old style flat rides instead of the new technology

ex.jazzland  bonfante gardens  islands of adventure and  the worst example  visionland

those parks should have had all the new flat rides instead we got the old wave swingers and other rides found at every other park since the dawn of time

Have you ever ridden a Chance Inverter? They are horrible! Sure, they look pretty cool, but they are not much fun, I was quite dissappointed.

Admittedly, I didnt pay *much* attention to the flat rides @ IOA, but what "old style flat rides" did IOA open with? Sure they have a Merry-go-round, but even that's diffent than your average. The "Dumbo" type ride (red fish blue fish) has a little twist with the water. And the tea cup ride...well okay, that SUCKS, but it didnt *open* with the park (I know splitting hairs :))

But damn, after inventing 100million dollars on the most techonlogically advanced non-coaster ride around, I think you should cut then some slack!

Personally, I hate flat rides, except the Scramblers and Himalayas...I rode the Chaos at CP, and that thing is absolutely evil...it should have a big pentagram in the center...Thank God for Dramamine, or some people at CP would have had puke all over them...

Ah, don't tell me that! I'm about to go ride one in a couple of hours at the fair. Why are they so bad? This fair also have a Chaos which looks pretty cool because I've never ridden one before.

I think modern flat rides are a very good investment for a park. My homepark (Lagoon) has gotten one amazing flat ride (Modial Top Scan, EVERY park needs one of these) and one pretty good one (Mondial Splashover).

I rode a KMG Spin Out at a carnival and it was ok. Sure it was great while you were upside down (The G's were so intense I thought my head was going to explode), but other than that, the ride was pretty boring. I don't see very many of these being installed at parks in the future, if any.
