Um, Steel Dragon is in a parking lot.
Yes, and the parking lot is surrounded by water. Any longer along the same path and Steel Dragon would run into water. I don't see how it could have been "planned" to be bigger without a very different layout.

I bleive that SD2K was going to be a 300 foot coaster, but after MF was announced they did add a couple feet to it making the coaster taller then MF.
No they didn't. People want to believe that SD2K was modified or thought up after the announcement of MF, but it wasn't. The coaster was planned and the plans stuck. MF was announced and it just happened to be a few feet shorter than SD2K. There was no conspiracy or anything going on, depsite what some of you want to believe.

My wishlist for the 2002 season includes 121 different coasters, 92 of which I have not ridden.

Exactly what I was goin to say. That Magnumforce wants to believe that Millennium Force was only eclipsed because SD2K was ridiculously modified at the last minute. Real life construction isn't like Roller Coaster Tycoon okay everybody? Every few INCHES of a coaster's track is analyzed by computer and believe it or not, greatly effects and changes a ride. And saying that "an extra few feet was added on to break the record" is bull____ nonesense made up by upset fanboys.

Look at the layout of sd2k, if you just extend the lifthill a couple of feet and make the lifthill that much taller it would have negligable effect on g forces and the like.
SD2K only 9 feet higher drop and it only 8 feet taller then Millie. Not that it makes any difference anyway but I have heard it rhough the grapevine that this was teh case.

Mamba was the inspirement of the park owner for Steel Dragon 2000, and he wanted the drop to be 100 feet taller as said by his own words(translater...close enough) on the show covering it's project. Mamba's drop 205 feet
SD2K's drop 306.9 feet
Close that case, also, right after millenium Force was complete the park ordered to have the top oh the lift to be put up imediately, basically to take the record from Millenium Force. (although the ride wasn't complete, according to Guiness book, having the heighest point of the ride in place gave it the record that year for tallest coaster).
Yes I have been on both also, but you have to consider neither features all that you could want for the Giga coaster. If you took Superman: Ride of Steel at Six Flags New England and gave it Steel Dragon 2000's drops, Millenium Force's turnaround(even though S:RoS already has it) and Superman:Ride of Steel's ending then that would feel complete. SD2K is definentaly the #1 coaster I have ridden from Cedar Point too Nagashima Spa Land(around the globe), but tell me haven't gotten of a coaster and said something like:
"Volcano was awsome, but I wish there a helix are something inside the Volcano at the end."
"Shivering Timbers is like the greatest woodie, but it really needs some landscaping."
"Incredible:Hulk was the most awsome experience, but wouldn't it be cool if it had this amazing ending...."
Also, Steel Dragon 2000 was planned to be built in an open area, by park's request, to give the feeling of towering over the world.
"2003 - Rumor - (1/14/02) The latest rumors from Germany claim that the new Intamin Hypercoaster project will only be 99 meters (324.8 feet) tall. From what we were told, permission must be granted from the German equivilent of the FAA for any structure over 100 meters tall. We’ve also heard that the location of the ride may have been moved away from Colossos and will now start near the second observation tower, near the “bob coaster”. "
