Millennium Force safety device

Yes, I do keep MF safe ;).

-----------------
I'm loud, I'm annoying, I'm the anti-rollback.

Uh, has anyone else noticed that Medusa West's lift is very loud, almost identical to Raptor. So I think it got passed up in the new retarders.

-----------------

Medusa east is still silent and that's a year older then Medusa west.

Wow, I had trouble talking to my friend sitting next to me on Medusa (W) the other day. The whole convorsation:

Me: "Wow, Roar looks really cool from up here!"

Friend: "What?"

You get the point. I wonder why it is so loud. Anyone know?

CCNs forums are now fully operational.

I can vouch for the anti-roll back device on the MF. As we neared the top of the lift the train seemed to stall for a moment. Coming nearly to a stop the dogs dropped. It was only a momentary pause, but they stayed down for the rest of the trip up and over. It was suprising and quite loud in the seat i was in, it wasn't until after the ride that i realized what had gone on.

Yea, MF's lift has to be at a certain (close to full) speed before the anti-rollbacks will go up. So when you stop near the top and the anti-rollbacks go down, the train starts up a little slowly and doesn't really reach full speed. This is why it makes that nasty sound (probably louder than Magnum's lift).

Actually, Ca Screamin' has caliper brakes on the lift, and on every one of those block brakes. The reason is that if power was to go out, and say a backup system failed (i'm not sure if there is one), there would be no way of stopping the train from coming off the lift. I'd love to see Screamin' go through block checks though! That's gotta be one hell of a job for the crew to test every morning!

Oh by the way.. Matt, yes Millennium's lift is by FAR louder than our baby Magnums! In 01 I remember hearing them while sitting at turnstyles in the beginning of the season.
