Millenium Rain-ia 9/13

Associated parks:
None

Well, after much begging and pleading with my non-enthusiast fiancee, we left Columbus at about 1:30 for CP. I didn't really know what to expect, since I am relatively new to the hobby and had never been to one of these events before.

Imagine my surprise to find out that there were only about 2 rows of parking filled! Despite the dark and damp weather I couldn't control my enthusiasm. We didn't stay for too long because we both had to work the next day, but I did manage to get on everything multiple times.

Raptor-10 laps
Tried several different rows, found the back right to be to my liking, along with the obvious front row. The brake run appeared to be much lesser on this particular day than on others. All of our rides were re-rides-didn't get off the train once.

Mantis-3 laps
After the rain stopped, we got on the first train in the front row. I tried the Coasterbuzz Approved method of riding a stand-up, and nearly castrated myself. I should add an addendum to this method, which is that it should not be tried in sandals. The front row was quite disappointing, but the back row proved a little better due to the hangtime in the loop. The trims also seemed to be turned down a bit on this ride.

Magnum-8 laps
I've never been much of a magnum fan, but today changed that for me. I am now a big magnum fan, to say the least. I rode behind a gentleman that was recording his laps, don't know if it was a fellow buzzer. He said his record for one day was 95 on the Steel Phantom at KW-sound familiar?
Anyway, rode in a few different cars, and found them all a little bumpy, but a lot of fun. I don't have any of the fear on this ride that I have on MF, so it's a little easier to enjoy.

Millenium Force-3 laps
By this time, rain was coming down fairly strong. The second lap, the train stopped on the top of the lift hill for about 5 seconds-enough to put the fear of God into me, that's for sure. The rain became pretty painful at this point, enough for me to shield my face after the drop. All in all, it's become my favorite steel, tied with Montu.

Definitely worth the 22 bucks! I wish that I could have gone back today, but instead I'm here posting about it at work. Incidentally, this is my first TR, so I apologize if I broke any unwritten rules.

Just got back from there today, what a nice, cool day. Got 12 laps on magnum, 7 laps on raptor, 5 laps on mantis, 3 laps on Millennium force, and 4 rides on each tower of power tower. And yes Mark, was worth the 22 bucks ;)

"Coasterbuzz approved" method of riding a stand-up? What's that?
SFGAm isn't that far from where I live, so next time I go there, I could try this method on Iron Wolf.
Oh, and while I'm at it, are there "Coasterbuzz approved" methods of riding any other types of coaster?
