Mikey's Opening Day CP Report: ROCKET LAG!

Associated parks:
None

Absolutely Amazing is right! The park was packed, looked clean, great employees, excellent rides, and a new coaster (did anyone else know about this?) Here are my highlights:

Left Auburn Hills at 5:45, arriving at the Joe Cool Main Gate at 8:15. Line was not that bad, and I found Josh (Spin and Puke) and his brother and we hung out for the time until opening.

Ran like hell and got to the DRAGSTER queue at 9:10. Wait at that point was 2 hours ALREADY. I have NO IDEA how so many people got there before us. Not sure if the Magnum gate got in the same time, or what? If E-Train or anyone knows, thats appreciated.

Sat in the second to last row with my dad, with Josh, and his brother a row ahead of us. Red Train. The trains kick butt, and are very comfortable. The countdown lights do not work yet, and that's fine with me.

The launch is un-mo-fo-believeable!! Jeff is 100% correct: You don't ever think the launch and acceleration is ever going to end. Love the twist on the drop, and the head chopper is outstanding! Excellent ride. Absolutely new favorite of mine, (sorry X and Magic Mt).

When we left, the queue line grew to 5 hours. I pity the folks without Joe Cool. A total of three trains, (red, blue, green) were running. Purple was on transfer with water dummies, and black cherry was on transfer as well.

The midway looks totally different, but they have done a great job. Bright colors, signs promoting the ride everywhere. The SHOP ZONE has excellent merchandise. For $31.95, I got a great red polo shirt with the logo. Hmm...whatever will I wear tomorrow to teach in?

Twsiter: Still a great ride. Love the back seat.

Raptor: No mid-course brakes, and an absolutely awesome ride.

Mantis: Again, no trims. What a difference the ride makes,

Gemini: What can I say? Still a classic 20+ years later.

I was FLOORED at how busy the park was. Did not get on Millennium (2 hours when we went), or Maggie (45 mins). We had to leave at 4, to get home for dinner with the grand folks.

Greetings: Great to see Josh and his brother, Aaron (Tekguy), Joe (Gemini176), Adam, and two other guys who are very familiar but don't know their names,(sorry) Dan (who I asked where the queue was...but I'm not sure Dan knows what I look like...lol...great to FINALLY meet Jo (if only for a second...sorry, Jo and Raptor gang, I had to use Freeway, as I had to go), talked to E-Train. If I missed anyone, I am terrible sorry. I felt like it was Cheers...I ran into many a friends...

A great day at the, and here's looking to a great year! I suspect, based on Opening, record-breaking attendance!

Around one in the afternoon, my dad and I began to get REALLY TIRED, and FATIGUED. We figured it was the "after-effects" of Dragster, so we called our new disease..."ROCKET LAG!"...some people get jet lag...we got "ROCKET LAG!"

For Joe Cool where is the entrance? Do you think it would be a better idea to go in the Magnum Gate? Where exactly is that located? That's weird that 2 hours of lines were there before the gates even opened. What were they all for?

Ouch! That long just minutes after opening. Hopefully they will have 4 or 5 trains up for next weekend when I go because I can't wait longer than 3 hours.

Mikey, you posted my AIM screen name as my CB name. That's OK though. :) Good to see you again, but it would have been better to see you behind me in the TTD queue. ;-) I completely forgot about the 3pm meeting though. Doh!

I was at the JCC Magnum entrance, and our wait was 2 hours as well. We were allowed to go through the gate at 8:50, but had to wait at the tunnel under Magnum until 9 am.

The people in line ahead of us were the VIP's and a special group of close to 1000 with Pepsi, or at least that's what a fella from ACE who was also one of the VIP auction winners told my son.

If you can get back there the beach entrance (just up the path from WT) is the closest enterance.

What is a Joe Cool?

CPLady, how far back were you in line? I was like the 6th or 7th person in line, talking to Spid3rman04, Scooter, and the other people around us. When they let us into the tunnel, I was up in front, bribing the guard to let us in.
