Midway madness to replace millionare attraction at mgm.

Forgive me if this has been brought up before, but I did a search and found nothing.

It seems that the who want to be a millionare attraction will be replaced by "Midway madness", a dark ride/ shooter type ride themed to toy story. It will be along the lines of buzz lightyear.

The attraction will be installed at MGM studios and california adventure.
Here is some info(not official diney info).

This may just be a rumor, but it seem logical. *** Edited 7/27/2006 1:07:24 AM UTC by crazy horse***

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I've been hearing this rumor for 6 months. It sounds greatand the technology sounds VERY interesting.

FYI - Bob Iger this week approved a multi-hundred million dollar makeover of DCA....they say in 5 years we won't recognize the place...it will be rethemed, re-worked, and renamed....sounds VERY interesting!

Peabody, don't trust Jim Hill, that's what I've found, his historical articles are great, but forward thinking articles are riddled with wrong information, bias, and flat out lies.

As for Midway Madness, all we know right now is that Millionaire is closing, that's it. No word on theme or whatever, but think, TWO Buzz Lightyear shooting dark rides? Uh, no.

Believe me, I take everything Jim Hill says with a grain of salt :)

Grain? I use a salt lick. :P
lol....my only problem is that I REALLY want to believe what he says often, even if I suspect it's not true :)

Even if it is just a rumor, it sounds a lot more fun than Millionare. I went twice and didn't really enjoy it either time. They spent too much time on each question (like they were purposely stalling so less people can play in each game).
I wouldn't see them putting in a Toy Story attraction, since Buzz Lightyear falls under that story. Unless they avoided Buzz completely in the story. There already is the shoot-em-up with Buzz, so why include him in another.

As someone said, I wouldn't trust Jim Hill, he's a fool, typically. I like in the article where he makes fun of himself. Where they rather please the paying customers over the annual passholders or Disney dweebs. Ouch, hurting himself on his own website.

Now, if they would do something with "Sounds Dangerous with Drew Carey" then we'd be set!

Jim's a blowhard, but he's a well connected blowhard. Don't write this rumor off just because it 'sounds like' buzz lightyear. From what I've read the similarities are very minor, basically they're both high-tech interactive darkrides with Toy Story themes. If what I've heard is happening actually makes it into the ride, it's going to involve 3-d projection and a kind of 'x-ray vision' that allows you to see through walls to 'discover' characters along the ride.

A.) The ride will be centered around Pixar characters in general, not just Buzz/Toy Story.

B.) The two current Buzz rides are at Disneyland and The Magic Kingdom but the Midway Mania rides will be in DCA and Disney/MGM. MM might be a similar ride type to Buzz but the two won't be in the same park.

For those interested in the ride, here is an article from MiceAge that describes it, and it includes a link to a patent Disney applied for in regards to the technology that is supposed to be used. Sounds pretty nifty to me.
