Michigan's Adventure, Like I have NEVER seen it!

Associated parks:
None

It would take more than "a few" new rides for me to even consider staying two days at MiA. It does not have enough to do for people to want to stay there for two days. Campgrounds and a hotel would not be used because there is not two days worth of attractions inside the park.

Word,

Yes, there is (or could be).

Close your eyes and imagine:

You are married and have a couple of kiddies, age 5-8. You live less than 2 hours away from a major diversion from life, Michigan's Adventure.

Wow! A big campground is there! You can camp (tent or RV) and ride the train to the park. Or.. guess what? Stay at a hotel with shuttle service to the park. And you know what else? That hotel has a pool! Your kids are going to LOVE that!

Now you are at the park. Wow. TONS of stuff for the kids to do, and guess what? Some fun for you, too! Shivering Timbers (My God, my kids can ride this with me? YEP!) looms in the distance. And there is a MadMouse, CorkScrew (Kara be Blessed) and a Log Ride.

Wow, I'm getting bored. Wait, there is a Water Park, too?!!? With 2 or 3 Wave Pools, a Lazy River and several Water Slides? Man this park is a dud, for sure.

End of Day One.

CF is planning day 2. You can bet on that.

In the meanwhile, increased advertising might help the early season... I really didn't notice many advertisements until after the first month or so. If they start advertising a week or two before they open, they might be able to boost it as well.

As for evening out the weekly attendence, if they stayed open later and/or offered half day tickets they would attract more families during the week. Some feel that it is hardly worth a regular ticket if you get out of work at 5, drive an hour to get there (6pm), but find the waterpark closes at 7 or 8 and the park at 8 or 9. That's 1-2 hrs in the waterpark, and 2-3 hours in the dry park for $23 per person and $6 for parking. If you can stretch the closing to 11pm, that gives you 4 hours in the waterpark and up to 5 hours in the dry park for your money... much more palatable for the Dutch west michigan population :) .

Do parks ever turn people away and say, "Sorry, we're full"?

They should have Saturday at MiAv!

MrScott

Yes they do. Once while at SFStL they had to do it. That saturday was horrible. It was the year the boss opened. I spent almost 2 hours waiting for it, and a whole bunch for everything else. we were there all day and I think we barely made every coaster. But the fire marshall did make the park quit taking in customers around noon.
