Michigan Adventures.

The gas station got scrapped. It had started to go in, and then wa sbacked off. Jourden still owns the excavation company that moved all their dirt.

Here's the deal:
The Aussie lion going wouldn't surprise me. They have no real attachment to it, beyond it being a mascot. Snoopy substitutes just fine.

The entry plaza is two-years new. It's not gonna budge.

They are proud of the Corkscrew station. Enthusiasts would kill you if you removed it. Removing the cork makes no sense, as its footprint is dinky, and they already have two kids coasters. It has better throughput than a boomerang or an Invertigo anyway.

I can easily see an S&S, a canyon ride, and an enclosed restaurant.

Big Dipper is new, and is a kid's coaster ('bout halfway between Woodstock and Junior Gemini). Zach's Zoomer is a family woodie that's pretty decent.

They own a Chance C.P. Huntington train. Two engines, 6 cars I believe -- they just need to lay the track down.

Think a hyper. A deal was in the works before the buyout, and I believe CF committed to the project. Think in the area next to ST.
Hey Wolf, I thought that half-built gas station a bit down the road belonged to them...at least that is what I was told. Is that theirs yet, and are they just going to leave it half done? Anywho, yes plans for a motel and campground have been talked about in the local papers, but that same article also said, and I quote, "Owner Roger Jourden said the amusement park is planning a new steel roller coaster for the 2002 season. It will not be a giant steel-tracked, 210-foot-high variety that Jourden initially discussed...Instead, Michigan's Adventure is exploring a 160-foot suspended coaster that takes riders head over heels and would provide a straight down drop. The suspended coaster has a track over the riders' heads as their feet dangle below like the Raptor at Cedar Point." But yes, employees there also claim a hyper is on the way instead:). The railroad is being constructed right now, the trains are sitting out there behind Adventure Falls. Also I heard that Jourden did hold on to some of the land and did not sell it all to Cedar Fair. I guess we will just have to see what is to come.

Life is a roller coaster...enjoy the ride!
Maybe he'll take the land he didn't sell and live next to the park :)

Rollercoasters are the secret of life!

I was at the park on 7-23 waiting for the front of ST when two guys with ties (CF execs) and a MA exec came up the back way to the platform. The MA exec asked the next people in the queue if they could ride the front and the MA exec climbed in with one of the CF guys. When their train got back, I yelled "We want a hyper!" They chuckled and one exec said "Tell that to him," referring to the exec that rode. An employee then said that the planned hyper had been scrapped for next year and was going to another park. Alleged stats: 210' with a tunnel at the bottom of the drop going below ground level. It wasn't the Lemon Chill guy.

I rode ST somewhere in the vicinity of 40 times that day (we lost track after 25) and rode it 10 more times the next day. It is unbelievable. I think Cedar Fair should build on this fine collection of modern wooden coasters make Michigan's Adventure the wooden coaster capital of the world. Woodies in the northwoods; what a great tie in.
What ST Chick describes sounds like the "extreme" version of the ArrowBatic to me.
Yeah, but isn't that a little tall for the Arrowbatic? Sounds awesome.

Do they have a lot of room for expantions from looking at the pictures they seem to.

I think trees are a big must for this park. I remember when it was Deer Park funland they had much more tree cover over the park, now most of those same trees are gone. They need better food venues and give you your money's worth. And this $3.00 locker rental crap plus $7.00 deposit! I have never been to any park that charged that much to rent a locker and expect a deposit to boot. Charging to use intertubes in the water park wavepool sucks too. I noticed some landscaping improvements were already underway next to the corkscrew.
CPointer, I can see the hyper getting scrapped. As originally it was suppose to be built last year. But going to another park?? The only other Cedar Fair park that doesnt have one is Knott's and their next attraction was and has been planned well before CF bought out MA.

Just reporting what the employee said. I always take any of these kinds of reports with a grain of salt.

You've never rented lockers at PKI's Waterworks then. They have a similar locker policy. Dang, typing is tough these days. I have 6 stitches on the tip of my right index finger.
The inverted rumor was flying around, too, but Jourden had backed off of it and returned to the hyper. I think cost was a factor.

The current plan is a hyper in 2003.

There was a gas station going in where the giant piles of dirt are, across the street. You'll notice that they are gone now. (station, not the dirt)
